Remote Keyless Start? Possible with 2002-2006 MINI?

Is it possible to install a remote engine starter in the cooper (2002-2006)?? has anyone successfully accomplished it OR known someone who has installed a remote starter system and it worked fine? Thanks

Don't think so, the car won't start unless the key is in the ignition (computer chip).

there are ways to make it work. I will not go into that as a google search should be able to answer this, as some of it becomes a safety issue, i.e. clutch switch and people leaving cars in gear.

I have done it on another car that had a chip in the key and a 5-speed.

But it can be done

When I had a remote starter installed in my other car. I had to buy another key and this do-hickey to put the key in (it hides under the dash, and I destroyed the key part of it so no one can steal the car). Basically the do-hickey has a wire that leads up to wrap around the ignition so that the car "thinks" the key is in the ignition. As for the manual tranny thing, I know it can be done, but I'm not sure how.
