Airbox Screws and Filter

I wanted to check my MCS' air filter today, but on opening the bonnet I discovered that the airbox top is affixed by a series of screws with sockets.

Can anyone tell me the type (Allen or Torx) and size of these screws?

The owner's manual, as far as I can tell, contains no information on changing/checking/cleaning the air filter. Presumably, BMW considers this an operation meant to be carried out by a dealer. It seems absurd that owners are not viewed as competent enough to perform this very elementary service.

Has anyone found a benefit in changing to a K&N or foam-type filter with the stock airbox?

Thanks in advance to the NAMster community for the usual helpful advice and info.

They are Torx and I believe they are T-20s or T-25s.

I have intstalled an aftermarket intake w/the K&N filter and it seems to have boasted the gas milage and the horsepower slightly, but the best benefit of it is being able to hear the Turbo!

I used Torx T30H and T25H to remove air box lid and air intake lead.

I used to have a K&N before I got my JCW Kit. I personally like K&N filters and have had them on all the cars I have owned.
