i live in a area has "some" nice cars and several car theft happened. is there any one has Lojack in their MINI or other cars?

How is it? i know how it works but is it that good??

It also has a early warning system it tells you when the car has been moved. it sounds pretty cool, but the proce sounds coooool toooo.

Any storys? and comments?

Anyone interested to have a group buy?

LOJACK sucks...

I say, if someone is going to steal the car... let them and let them take it very far and total it...
Once your car has been violated, you will always worry about unseen damage.

BUT if you were to put theft recovery in it... I would not get lojack... get a gps tracking device and program... so you can see it ANYTIME off Satellite Imaging....

i have a NAV in my MINI, but everyone knows that the nav can be tracked, simple thing is everyone also knows how to disconnected after they steal it. GPS is not a very good option.

My dealer gave me a quote of $595.

Seperate GPS is a great option... are you nuts?

Just install a small hard unit in the Mini (Hidden) and the theif will never know.

Lowjack has to be activated... and we all know that it can be too late by the time we realize the car has been stolen.

I had a 300zx stolen and never recovered... lost HUGE $ in it too...

Lowjack was not activated in time...
it was stolen late one night while I was sleeping... I did not realize it was gone until the next morning... at LEAST 3 hours later.

Remember... if your car is targeted by a thief it WILL be stolen.

I will have a Gps tracking system installed in my car shortly.
www.networkcar.com

It not only can locate your car but send you emails about service reminders, trouble codes and possible problems your car may have. It also records speed and gas mileage (only you can see it and a dealer can not from the website).

If you need any more information let me know. I work for the Company and will be supporting, and training dealerships how to install and use it.

Do you guys think it's actually possible for someone to bypass the system on the MINI where the car will not start if the key and the chip aren't present? I'm not extremely knowledgeable on jacking cars ( ), but I feel pretty good about the built-in protection on the MINI. I know, I know, someone could still break in and tow it, but frankly that seems about as likely as Governor Gary Coleman.

I read an article in Car and Driver about how extreme car alarms are in South Africa. (They have a huge car jacking problem)

One version is a steel rod that's under that car. At the press of a button, the rod will swing out, shattering the the car jacker's shins. There's a rod on each side.

The other, is basically a flame thrower than can turn the car jacker into ash.

Pretty nifty!

HUH??!?!?!?! You have a GPS RECEIVER in your car NOT a transmitter. You CAN'T be tracked by the NAV system in your car. Don't know who told you that.... Now if it was OnStar or some such service, yes it could be tracked.

Networkcar plugs into the OBd2 port and hooks up with some other wires. I just started the job and have not had much time with the product.
as far as price goes it is what the dealer wants to sell it for and there is a 10 dollar a month fee to use the service. They should be rolling out the product in Ga shortly.
