MINI's new 1.6l turbo engine wins the International Engine of the Year Award

there were 11 categories, and BMW-PSA 1.6l turbo found in MINI Cooper S came out on top for the 1.4 - 1.8 liter category

I could probably get that mileage on one... if you cut my right foot off. With an axe.

BMW really dominated this year's awards with multiple 1st and 2nd places.
On the other hand, no American engine made top 6 in any of the categories, despite 10 US judges.
That sums it up right

I've seen 40 mpg averages before. Not as fun though...I can drive it a bit more "spirited" and still get about 30-32 mpg...no complaints with that at all!!

I managed 36.7 mpg hand calculated over a tank in in my R53 on a highway road trip w/ very little traffic once, avg. speed of 56 mph, usually cruising around 65mph.

Not fun in the traditional sense, but it's kind of like a game in and of itself trying to maximize mpg.

The most you'll ever get out of the Supercharged Tritec engine is like 34MPG.

We are averaging in our MCS Clubman, right at 35 MPG... Loving that!
