How many of you ripped off the MINI badge in disgust? Let's see the wounds!!! Post yer pics!

 

I did it. I removed both the front and rear MINI badges. Looks great without them too! I'm gonna see what a body shop will charge to fill and paint the couple little holes next week. Pics to follow in the morning.

i'm pretty sure that yucca de-badged his car last year, cause he just didn't want badges on his car

 

IMHO....I just don't get it...this debadging stuff????

I really like the way my MCS looks now....and I don't see the point of this or how it could possibly effect the "big picture".

I believe in personal choice and freedom...so ..if it "floats your boat"...do it :smile:

What an adventure the debadging turned into. The letter removal was simple and quick. But by the time I got the "C" off, it started to pour. I figured I would go to the gas station, fill up the tank and use the "cover" to snap a couple of pictures. I get a couple blocks away and I'm stuck in a line of traffic when I notice an older volvo parked on the side with some hay? sticking out of the trunk. Weird, I thought, to find that in the middle of New Brunswick. Then I notice two people wrestling with the front bumper. I pull a little closer and realize that it's my friend Charity's car and it's her standing there in the rain with some other guy pulling and pushing on her half mounted bumper. She says something about an accident so I pull over, get out into the rain and go investigate. It turns out that she was hit as she was pulling out. The guy helping her with her bumper is the owner of the other car and he hardly speaks any English. I get the story from both of them (each blaming the other for the accident), then go look at his car and see that the whole side is damaged: front fender, passenger door and rear panel. It looks like a lot of damage, so I tell her to get out her paperwork so he can file this with his insurance. She starts crying and tells me she can't find her drivers license, she is uninsured and unregistered. (she is VERY irresponsible, but I love her still). Somehow, I manage to get the other guy to agree to go get an estimate right then and avoid the insurance. Charity hops in HARMINI, the guy follows me to the Auto Body shops. There are probably 5 Auto Body shops and 10 mechanic bays over in an industrial area in town. We get there and I go and ask one Auto Body guy I know to come out and give an estimate. He tells us it's gonna be a few thousand dollars. Yikes!!! Meanwhile Charity had gone to the next Auto Body shop and told them the story. They looked at the car and checked parts prices and came up with a $1500 estimate. They also spoke Spanish, so at least the other guy now understood what was going on. I turn to Charity and ask her if she's got any money saved. Nope, she was just fired from her job that day, just moved into a new apartment and she's got $20 to her name. What to do? If the guy calls the cops, Charity will get multiple tickets and lose her license for 6 months. So, being who I am, I agree to cover the repair until she can pay me back. I run home, get the $$, come back, have the Auto Body guys draw up a contract for the work and then I think we're done. But the guy wants to leave his car there as he lives about 40 minutes away. I offer to take him home, all 3 of us hop in HARMINI, stop and get gas (my original destination) and take this guy back home. I lectured Charity the whole ride back to New Brunswick. Doubt it will do much good.......

So, needless to say, I never got pictures of my badgeless boot. Instead, I ended up soaking wet, spent 3.5 hours of my Saturday and $1500 all because I wanted to go take a picture under a little cover.

My badges are still on. I'm waiting for some more teenage punks to come and steal them off, again, and do the work for me...

I'm glad the punks in my neighborhood aren't interested in MINI badges (or valve stem caps for that matter). Even if I wanted to take off the MINI wings, I would MUCH prefer to do the job myself.

Maybe you could tell me how big those pilot holes under the wings emblem are. Pin-hole size? Or screw-hole size?

If I remember correctly, they are the size of eraser heads on a pencil. I think the quick and easy fix is to find a screw and a nut and twist away!

 

okay, this is funny......

I'm sitting here, typing on my laptop, when Mambo (my cat) jumps on my lap and spots the C O O P E R letters sitting on my desk. Before I can stop him, he's off and running around the house with the E in his mouth. It was so funny to see the chrome poking out from between his teeth, looking like he just got some serious braces. Only I would have a cat that loves to eat metal or even plastic that looks like metal. He's wacked!!

 

HARMINI: <--- Change that to HARmini before you get sued I hope your friend appreciates what you did for her, that is the most unselfish thing I've heard in quite a while.

I just took my "Cooper S" badges off of the hatch, not 15 minutes ago!

I wouldn't dream of taking the MINI badges off though. This is why my wife thinks I am "so wierd about badges!" I mentioned the other day that I saw a Alfa 164 just like hers but that it looked bad since they had taken the "Alfa Romeo" script off of the trunk lid. Personally I think it looks better with the script.

My 164S had all of its badges and so does my GTV, but the Milano was completely stripped of badges other than the Alfa roundel.

It is an esthetic thing. Sometimes the badges look right and sometimes they don't. For me the "Cooper S" was reduntant.

No intention of removing badges!

 

I removed my "Cooper S" badge a while ago. I think it makes the back end look a lot cleaner. As for the "MINI" bages, I was thinking about removing them before this whole legal thing started. If I removed the "MINI" badges, I would just put some rubber plugs in place of the holes...

 

to each his/her own...but I'm not gonna remove any of my badges, no way.

 

I didn't remove my badges and prob wont, I like the chrome look.

Some of us team MM guys removed the MINI badge on the engine block and replaced it with an M7 tuning badge.

I would have to agree, but I will say that after accidently knocking off my "Cooper S" on the boot, I like it a lot. It's much more clean looking. I've decided to remove all the badging for that "clean-shaven" look and it will also serve some "not so secret cause"...this way I won't feel so childish...not that that is a bad thing.
