2007 MCS Damage-Painted Replacement Parts?

Some clown backed into my yellow MCS today. He pushed in the drivers light a bit and damaged the hood, bumper and fender. Does anyone know if OEM replacement parts are available already painted? I was thinking if everything just bolted on I could do the work myself. This would only be possible if the hood, bumper and fender was available painted from the dealer. Any info would be great. Thanks everyone!

No, body panels aren't available pre-painted, but even if they were it wouldn't really match unless you had the car color matched after. Paint fades over time, and even a few weeks sun exposure will slightly change the tone and pigment of the paint.

If you really wanted to just buy the parts though why couldn't you have them painted afterwards? Does it matter if they're pre-painted or not?

I thought if they were prepainted from the factory they would be of better quality. (even though the factory paint isn't all that good) Anyway, I've never seen a non-factory repaint that didn't have some issues.

Yeah, im going through a similar problem. Im prob. going to order the part myself and see if a shop could color match the paint as close as possible, and then install it afterwards myself to save on my deductable since the moron left after they hit me. Im hoping the color, since its on the bumper wont be much of a conspicuous contrast.

We lose no matter what. I would think in 9 months the color wouldn't change that much? My thought was that the factory OEM color would be a best match from the dealer. What a fiasco this will be if there is a noticable difference in color.

Dude, that sux.

Good luck with the repair. I would have it done rather than do it. Might be hard getting a shop to commit to rework if it doesn't come out right the first time...or two.

You're probally right. Anymore though, these cars are just put together like a model car. I had to adjust the hood after I picked the car up new. It was rubbing on the fender!

MINI paint is not very consistent. I had to have two items repainted. The scoop didn't match the bonnet when delivered, and I backed into a BMW in a parking lot. Both jobs were done at the same time. MINI of Mountain View sent me to Autobahn Body & Paint (about a block away). They matched the bonnet color and resprayed the scoop. Then they tried to use that paint on the rear fender. It didn't match. The guy at Autobahn thought the bonnet had been repainted at the VDC.

Wow. I'm think I'm going to explore trading in this buggy for a new one. Insurance companies should reinburse accident victims for all the BS they have to go through. I realize accidents happen, but, they should make the person whole for the mountain of inconviences. To top it off, the vin will likely show as being damaged on carfax. That should really help the resale value!!
