R56 SF bay area only: OBD-II scanner?
SF bay area only: OBD-II scanner?
Sorry to use the general R56 forum but the NorCal forum is pretty dead.
I need a recommendation for somebody or someplace with an OBD-II scanner tool for the R56. My normal shop is BR Racing in Los Gatos but their tool doesn't seem to want to sync up with my car. Can anyone recommend a shop in the south bay / peninsula area to have some codes cleared? (besides the dealer?
)
thank you!

Some auto supply stores provide that service. I've seen signs for it in several around Monterey. Or get yourself a ScanGaugeII. You can read error codes and clear them. It also provides you with four simultaneous gauge readouts while you drive. You choose from a variety available in the OBC. I usually use it for coolant temp, boost (MAP), mpg, and mph. It will also give you intake temp, ignition delay, rpm, voltage, and other readouts.
Another nice feature is the automatic daily trip meter. It measures max rpm, average speed, average mpg, etc. Resets when the car is off for 8-10 hrs. You can read the current data, or yesterday's data.

all AUTOZONES "loan" tools including OBD scanners.
You will need to buy it / pay full price.
Read list and clear your code right in the parking lot and return the reader.
A reader is a great tool to own but I have donr this while on a trip and forgot my reader

tried the AZ tool and it's not reading any codes. Guess It's not going to solve the issue I'm having (driver's side door thinks it's open when it's not). Would a tool specific to MINI be able to clear something like this?

yup
the first thing you said
I ran speaker wire into the door. Doing so required unplugging the wiring harness and feeding wires through the tube that connects the door to the car. $150 so far for diag fee... Awaiting more rapeage...
