2009 Model Year Release

When can we expect to see the 2009 cars?

And has anyone heard if there will be any body color changes?

BR Green, Chili Red and Sparkling Silver are being dropped for Lime Green, Citrus Orange and another citrusy color I am not remembering right now. Read it at Roadfly or Motoringfile, just can't find the link right now...Sorry

MINI's marketing department is way too smart to drop CR... their biggest seller and for a reason.

Now if they were only smart enough to bring back Jet Black.

Amen, ambdoubleu! I felt the same way about Indi Blue, alas.

That's good news and bad news.

Good news: No more blue/black.

Bad news: Metallic. "And don't hold your breath for non-metallic". Why, MINI, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY ???!!!????

Around September/October time you should see the '09 models coming out.

What about those BMW environmental features?

Anybody hear when the U.S. will get regenerative breaking, no alternator under acceleration, and engine stop/start when in neutral with no clutch?

Are those features tied to the 2009 model year?

The european start/stop feature has been reported over at MINI2.com by some UK owners to be problematic. When they press the clutch pedal in some instances the engine fails to start again. very nerve racking!

I can see regenerative braking here, but the auto start/stop (only on manual trans model by the way), don't think so. Too much liability and and potential for sue happy customers.

Speaking of sue-happy, anyone ever get the urge to sue over the crappy hi-fi system?

I just figured i'd get the base system and upgrade to aftermarket speakers and a sound processor to run off the factory unit.

Is there anyway to fit an aftermarket deck in these things? I looked at it and doubt that it's an easy DIN switchout like my old Accord.

I just picked up a Dodge Avenger to rent to drive to Florida (my wife wouldn't let me take the Clubman). The car is a POS, but the radio sounds so much better than my MINI hi-fi. I'll be upgrading soon.

I was hoping they would extend a yellow color line into the clubman arena.
I guess I'll wait to see the what the Orange looks like then make a decision whether to get the Cooper S or a Clubman S.

September/ October seems like a long way away.

You'd think MINI would awefully tempted to offer something special for the 50th anniversary model!!! Thus far, have heard of nothing.

I saw Gabe's post in the MF article of 4/29/08 indicating late August for the '09S, but when I call the dealers they say Jan 2009 (though without the sound of confidence in their voices.) They seem to base their answer on last year's arrivals, not on reports from MINI central. Has anyone had a credible update on when these will be available?

I wish they would have brought back Indi Blue when they released the clubman. That color still stops me in my tracks. Coolest color!

I'd bet the 2009 won't come out till 2009.

The Clubman's release was 2/16.
Why would Mini cut their own throats?

If you noticed the John Cooper Works Hardtop and Clubman are both 2009 models slated for June manufacturing and August delivery.
