R55 2009 Model Year Release
I would make the assumption that the '09 non JCWs will follow that schedule, too. Next-model-year production always begins between June and August for every automaker (unless a brand new model is on offer).
Correct. I've been notified by my dealership that by the time production takes place for my vehicle after july, I will be lookin at a 2009 clubbie. He also stated to his knowledge there are no changes to the vehicles from 2008 to 2009. Not exactly sure if he was referring to mechanical or cosmetic, but he's very upfront and matter of fact.
I'd imagine that they'd want to get on a September new model year cycle for the Clubman at some point. '09's as good a year as any other.
-Premium package is $250 less, loses hi-fi, gains MFSW
-Convenience package is $250 less, loses MFSW and armrest with comfort blue tooth (only has uncomfortable blue tooth)
OR
-Convenience package is $250 more to keep armrest with comfort blue tooth
-NEW OPTION: Dynamic Traction Control, not to be confused with Dynamic Stability Control, both of which appear to be standard on the JCW
-NEW OPTION: Heated mirrors now have washer jets
-Sirius is now $500, but only comes with a one year subscription, not lifetime
I think that's about it.
I'm guessing that it doesn't stay off. On the Prius, the car re-starts if the AC compressor is needed to resume cooling duty.

From what I gather, it is in MINI's interest to be cagey with the public and their dealers about any release dates. Why unnecessarily pressure buyers to wait for the newer year, crimping demand for summer production while gaining it all back in September...unless that gels with UK work schedules? Since there is very little price difference between the model years, MINI probably justs lets the info slip out right before any minor retooling takes place.
Between the '08 and '09s there should be very little in the way of change. I'm just hoping a few more random kinks will be ironed out. Little tweaks.
However, when I asked my MINI guy about this he checked MINI's production runs, and it looked like '08 models were still going into the production schedule in September. I don't think these were for Clubman orders.
Would be nice if we could get a simple, clear answer. Those that want the big stereo with their Premium Package could order early. Those who want the MFSW could wait a few weeks.

Dynamic Traction Control will be added to the JCW lines of vehicles to work with the DSC with what I've read so far.
Traction will start until the Stability takes over...I would think it's instant...my wife's DSC light comes on when she looses traction in her CR-V hitting a corner too hard or from a stop...yes...I said CR-V..
As far as Entry and S models I haven't seen it listed anywhere yet. I wouldn't like a bunch of electronics pulling power from me to gather traction, seems like it would take away from the experience.
concerning the roof rails, If you look at the build options of the mini on their website, there is options to add roof rails or "cargo rack"...I'm guessing they are similar...

W00t...found this on motoring file:
MINI USA To Make DSC Standard in 2009
The title says it all. MINI USA will be announcing Dynamic Stability Control will come standard on all models across the range. Look for MINI USA to also tweak the contents of the options packages they offer across the range for 2009 as well.

What is the truth? New color options forthcoming or not????

[I see you have 2 MINIs!]Guess it isn't their fault. They're selling so many 2008s, why try to please customers like me who are waiting to pull the trigger? I show them what I "hear" in the different forums, and they have no clue and certainly don't email me with feedback.
Just a trouble maker here...
Ahh...you must be a MoP customer too.

As far as 2009 Cooper S or Justacoops go, my dealer tells me that they're still able to book production dates for the 2008s through the 2nd week of September via his system. That doesn't mean that the 2009s will definitely start in the 3rd week (and then, perhaps, late October delivery) but it does indicate that the new model year shouldn't appear before then. If they were to try to book something as a 2008 for a date later than that, MINI might send them some message indicating that they'd have to in effect take 2009s instead. We're not there yet.
I'm hoping to be slotted right near the beginning of 2009 production...whenever that takes place.

I am waitlisted for a Clubman and my MA says that mine will be a 2009 as the production for 2009 begins sometime in Sept. As of 7/7/08 He said that he has not been advised of any changes or price increase and would notify of such if he receives notification. ASK MINI said that there would only be "cosmetic changes, not really noticeable." But of course I keep wondering...
As of 7/9 my Clubman I ordered 6/17 will be allocated sometime late August. I have the first slot (at my dealership) for 2009 Clubman (I thought I was going to be getting a 2008 to be delivered late August, early Septemeber - this is an update). Delivery expected late October. That's the info in KC.
