Vinyl pattern for sunroof?

I recently posted this as a response in another thread but thought I'd post it separately to get more responses.

I have a few questions about the vinyl patterns that you can put on top of the sunroof. I know the my local Mini dealership offers at least two: a checkered pattern and the Union Jack.

1. How does it look? Is it quality material?
2. How does that affect visibility? I rather like the idea of being able to look through the clear glass of the sunroof on days when it might be sunny but perhaps a tad too chilly to actually open it.
3. Conversely, on days when it is too sunny, does having a vinyl design over the sunroof mitigate the amount of light and heat entering the car?

Finally, does anyone have any pictures of how these vinyl patterns look both from inside and outside the car? Thanks!

It's a perforated vinyl you CAN see through it , but it does cut down on light coming in ... He has pictures to give you an idea

I just had the checkered pattern installed and it looks FABULOUS! I have to take updated pictures of my car but the weather has been uncooperative.

It still allows a lot of light through....the black is actually a tint so its clear looking out on the inside. The white doesn't block much light at all. It really looks slick...much better then I expected.

Right now I have checkered mirror caps, rearview mirror, license plates, sunroof, JCW mats and boot door sill. Sounds like a lot but spread throughout the car its a nice detail here and there. Quality is top notch on all accessories and I'm extremely happy. 110% satisfied

I will post pictures as soon as we have a sunny day here in upstate NY!!

Take a look at AC (above) or other aftermarket places-- you can design anything you want and won't be limited to the official MINI graphics. I was going to get the checks, but have decided to wait until I'm 100% sure of what I want and can do something custom. For less than the dealer wanted, too!

Quick question: are the black squares mostly opaque, meaning you can't really see through them?

I kind of like the perforated vinyl roof designs from Aesthetic Creations. Have you or anyone else had experience with them?

You have a beautiful Mini! I can't wait to get mine! It's been built and now it's on its way to the dock to cross the Atlantic!

Caulyne - do you know of any other places, aside from Aesthetic Creations, that produce custom vinyl roof designs? Thanks!

What you see are the white squares with the black being completely clear from the inside (a tint). The white squares allow light through (not opaque)...overall this pattern allows a LOT more light then I thought it would. Plus when the sun shines bright it makes a cool checkered shadow on the interior.

I think it looks GREAT and as much as it was a little pricey from the dealer I know they will stand by their product so if anything happens to the adhesion, corners coming up, etc etc they'll fix it

They have been fabulous as far as all the accessories and install...it has been very affordable but possibly because I've ordered SO much! I can't stop!!!

Enjoy your MINI when it comes and dress it up

Any local vinyl shop should be able to do it for you. Just take the dimensions you want.
