Saw me coming

I thought I was having a pretty good day. Woke up this morning and the sun was shinning. It was a little cold here in NE Ohio though but still I thought it would be a good day to drag the ol' mini out of hibernation, get her washed and waxed and maybe clean out the garage. After I got all the saw dust off and got the chili and black gleaming like the day she was hatched I thought I got time, I run up to the dealership and got the oil changed. This would be my first oil change on my 2006 at 1236 miles. Over the winter I had installed the rear fog lamp and changed my main switch bank that housed the new lamp switch. All the stealership had to do was program the computer to activate this control. I read plenty of times in this forum that the charge was nominal and at times free if you were in for your scheduled oil change. The most I heard anyone say they were charged was $10.00. Well now i'm short $72.97 and I feel a little screwed. I wasn't like I gave them $26,000 a year and a half ago!

I got a coupon in the mail from my dealer for a $110 oil change.

But, you should get an oil change free after a year. I'd call back and be like "hey.. what's the deal?"

Year and half and only 1,236 miles?!
You need to drive more. Come on down to the dragon and have some fun with that sucker.

And yes if it was over a year the dealership should have changed the oil for free under the maint plan.

I think they changed the oil for free but charged 72 dollars to activate the rear fog light.

in which case, yeah, you got screwed. you should have asked how much it would be before you set them loose.

but, why don't you drive the car more?

That's not right call the General Manager of the dealership, tell him you are very unhappy and ask what he will do about it. The GM usually care about how the dealership is perceived.

Hey thanks for replying all. BSU Cardinalfan you are correct. Free oil change but yep, $72 dollars to turn on the light. Sorry to vent like that but it seemed kinda petty. The whole time I waited for the oil change I had two different salesmen approach me trying to sell me a clubman or the new 1 series. Both nice cars but like I said I only have 1200 miles on my car. I would love to go to the dragon but i'm really in a place I don't want to be in with my gf. My mini is my fun car for really nice days and when my chores are caught up which obviously never happens. Who knows though, maybe I'll go to the dragon by myself!

going to the dragon is great therapy for pretty much anything, including GF troubles.
