$400 is close to what I was told. I'm about to order a 2003 but if the increase was only $24 as stated in another post, I might wait.....even though I want my Mini NOW.

If you are within $400 of getting or not getting a MINI, You may need to wait a long time. The sales tax alone will be somewhere like $1200.00.

Really, if you are that close to over your personal budget, then I'd vote to wait until after January. Or wait until you get your Income Taxes done.

Do not buy your MINI with your last $400.00. !!!!

Maybe I wasn't clear, the $400 I'm referring to is the difference between a 2003 and a 2004 model. Since I plan to keep the car forever and the differences between 2003 and 2004 are insignificant in my opinion, why not saye $400? On the other hand, if the price difference is ony $24 dollars, wait for the 2004.

Not a Mini or no Mini, a 2003 or a 2004 Mini.

If you special order one now, you're pretty much going to end up with an '04 anyway, as the model change is only about 2 months away. To me, the $400 is worth the wait. You'll lose at least twice that amount in car value when the '04's come out and you suddenly find yourself with a year old model. If this doesn't bother you, then you still might want to wait as you may be able to get a discount on an '03 in September

Just something to think about. Keep in mind any money you save can immediately go towards the mods I know you're already thinking about!

In an e-mail I just recieved from my "motoring advisor", she just told me that the dealers cost is only going up $24. Thats correct....only twenty four dollars.

She said if other dealers charge you more, thats just their add on.

I know the $$$s and cents are the issue here (...but maybe not so much if only $24 is involved) but don't wait too long just for a few bucks. After all, your missing out on some great motoring!!! Jump on in!!!

The prices will increase, to be exact to $16,449 for the Cooper and $19,449 for the Cooper S. Not a guess, but a quote from a Bulletin released on Mini's DealerNet...

MINI Announces 2004 Model Year Pricing and Changes

Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey - August 1, 2003 ... MINI USA is pleased to announce pricing and specification changes for the 2004 model year. Even with strong and consistent demand for both MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S, both models will receive only a modest price increase of $24. This will make the MINI Cooper MSRP $16,999 and the MINI Cooper S MSRP $19,999, inclusive of $550 Destination and Handling.

Several specification changes for 2004 are below:
* Due to popular demand, Pepper White will be available for the MINI Cooper S
* A new style 3-spoke leather sport steering wheel is now available for both models
* A rear power socket will return as a standard item
* Sport seats in Cordoba Beige Leather are also available due to customer demand
* The electronic display under the tachometer now includes a digital speed readout
* The On board computer now includes an instantaneous fuel consumption function

Several options and package prices have also been adjusted for 2004. Sport and Premium packages are up only $50 from 2003 as is the optional leather interior and CVT transmission.
