Looking to buy 2006 MCS - need opinon
Im looking to buy a 2006 MCS with ~25K miles (car is in TX). According to the owner (and he is the original owner), motor mount, window motor, and clutch have been replaced by dealer under warranty. Should I be concerned about the fact that the car has needed motor mount and clutch replacement? Are these signs that the car has been driven hard or are these inherrent problems on the 2006 models? No aftermarket mods on the car.
Consequently, The 06' MCS I picked up with 32K miles last week showed the motor mount and the clutch replaced under warranty around 20K miles. Not sure about the window motor though. My car runs perfect (so far) so it sounds to me like a manufacturing problem. Get it, you wont regret it!

So in my opinion, buy with confidence because that tells me the previous owner of the car really took good care of it!

I've had to replace both window regulators (4K) the steering rack (15K) and the clutch/flywheel (23K) under warranty on my 2005 MCS, and it's no lesser the car than before. And there is a trend, backed by my SA: replacement parts are holding up better and last longer than the crap they install at the factory. So rest assured, besides, all these problems are pretty common, esp the window regulators, across the BMW spectrum.
I have 06 MCS and had a motor mount replaced at ~18k...I like to think I'm easy on the car...mostly freeway miles to work. The mechanic at Mini of Dallas acted like it was no big deal and was sorry I had to drive that far to have it replaced.
A 2006 with 25k miles and a detailed service history would be a good buy. Y'll prob have some OEM warraanty left as well. 2006 are perhaps the most problem free of the first gen. I say go for it
Welcome to MINI ownership =)
None of those problems is unheard of. The fact that they were all fixed under warranty is a good thing. Plus you have warranty remaining, another good thing. IMO I wouldn't let this keep me from buying that car. I have a 2006 MCS that has remained problem free through 37,000 miles.
Good luck with your new MINI.
