R50/53 Which car to take to AZ
Which car to take to AZ
So im driving out to mesa arizona next week to check out asu. I'm debating whether to take my 06 mcs and have some fun on the roads or not. Does anyone know if there are any fun challenging roads out there??
PM ThumperMCS and Tuls, they both live out there and could have some insight as to the roads to take for some twisty fun

It depends mostly on were your coming from. If it's So. Cal. then it will probably be boring.
However NM, Col, Ut can be fun if you get off the interstate.
I have taken 87 out of Winslow to Phoenix. Slow but a good road. Also US 191 South of I 40 to US 70 Then US 60 into Phoenix.
Look for a Motor Carrier Atlas. A little more detailed than most other road atlas.

how long you staying in town? A short trip to Tortilla Flats is always fun. Grab a beer there. Maybe head out to Roosevelt Lake, Salt River Canyon. Jerome, Prescott, or Sedona. The Rim country? The MCS hauls through the mountains.
Lots to see here.

You're definitely not a desert rat. Lot's of natural wonders here.
Some club members took pictures and posted them on NAM in our club area

A large chunk of the DRP is heading for AMVIV next week, otherwise we'd probably have a run or event that you'd be welcome to join us for!
Oh, and just an FYI, ASU is in Tempe, not Mesa
Unless your checking out one of the smaller sub-campuses.
I have to agree w/the other AZ folks that there are a great number of fun roads in and around PHX.
As far as the cops go.... once you are outside of town, use your head, eyes and a V1... there really aren't many out there.

two years ago my wife and I flew down there from Denver. We bought a 1980 911 SC from a private owner. Drive to Flagstaff, the long way, is fun. Great moutain roads, different scenery compared to Colorado. From the grand canyon to four corners is interesting for the scenery, the small towns and the Native flair but not the road itself. But from four corners to Denver is incredible. We still think that it was by far the best road trip to date. We went through Durango to Ouray. I can not wait to do the SW Colorado this summer with the 5280 clan.
