What do yall think of this one? Classic Mini
Here's some other pics of the car that the owner sent me. Let me know if yall think it's a good deal. I'm thinkin I can get him to bump the price a little lower because I'm gonna need to change some things. Like the Zebra print.... haha. And he told me there was a little bit of rust. Looks pretty solid though. Thanks to H82WRK for the link and everything.

looks good, but i would ask for more pics.......plus in my opinion the center consols are a real pain with RHD minis....easy enough to pull out if you dont like it.......get more up close pics of all the typical rust area's
What areas do you think I should mainly ask for pics of? I mean... I know the areas to look for, but I mean.. that would be a LOT of pictures. haha. What ones do you suggest I ask for up close?

minimad has a picture guide of where to look for rust and stuff on a mini......i think he is in France right now but maybe another NAMM member will post the diagram......im not sure where it is at.....
Check the sticky at the top of the forum - the Buyer's Guide linked there lists all the main trouble spots.

I can see rust in the 1st pic near the rear wheel....
and in the second pic near the 6 o'clock position of the right headlight. I suspect if I can spot those easy (typical) spots, there are bound to be more. Someone else posted comments on the interior..... If it were my car, I'd gut the interior and start anew. Good luck.

Well, plan on tossing the front and rear door cards. They are easy enough to come by, but is still $ out of pocket.
Plan on throwing away the radio, who owns a mini disc player?? More $$
The dash looks like one of the rokee dashboards, but I have never seen them come in black? Time and $ if you want to strip it back to natural wood.
I'm personally not a fan of the stage one kits, I think they are too loud, but maybe thats me getting older.
Looks like your going to need a antenna too, the one thats on it, is broke or missing maybe? (LH fender)
I think the price is high for the car, for that much I would be looking at exporting a mini straight from the UK.
All that said, that black does look really sharp, come on, who doesnt love the floor mats??

hahahaha. I think the floor mats are funny. And I'd probably keep te door cards for a few months. haha. Just to get some laughs. BUT... I think the rest of the car is pretty solid. You guys with experience, how much do you think I could walk away with this car for?
As it is running on 10" wheels I would ask if it has disc or drum brakes at the front............if it's on drums with a stage 1 conversion you need to budget for the smaller more expensive early Cooper S disc brakes/servo unless you are brave in modern traffic conditions, or switch to later Mini 12" or 13" wheels and fit the the bigger cheaper later Mini discs.
The respray did not extend to the front valence under the bumper, seems to have some surface rust? Nothing serious but all good points for negotiating on price. I too would recommend more close up photos eg. under front carpets, outer door sills, rear subframe, boot floor/battery box, rear valence, A panels and door bottoms.
Generally looks good for year especially if you fit the matching Cooper door cards and ditch the zebra prints ! Keep the mats..............

That would be the best if you could get a local Mini person to go look at it in person. It is amazing how much more you can learn about the car but checking it out and meeting with the owner face to face. I second on the photos of the undercarriage, under carpets, apanels, headlamp seams. As for price I am not sure, I purchased my Mini for $7K and feel very good about my purchase but to compare my Mini to this Mini would not be fair as they are two different animals.
Also second on asking about the discs on the front, I have them on my 67 with my 10 inchers and it is a great safety upgrade.

I live in KC too and I own a classic Mini. LOL (BTW, i don't know if anyone noticed but that Mini has air horns)
There was a TON of rust hidden under what appeared to be a very solid car.
