Just found this on Car and Driver

I read this article when it first came out but didnt pay to much attention to it cause back then I wasnt really into Mini's. But today I found it again and began reading.
I'm still new the the Mini scene but Mini Madness is claiming 245 hp out of a setup that seams pretty basic...where'd they get those number? Has anyone seen a dyno sheet to prove those numbers? I dont know about you guys but I find it hard to believe. Then they are claiming $8000 in mods to the engine alone?!?!? $8000 in mods to what? Maybe I'm just missing something.
If anyone can prove me wrong please do cause I would love to get my MCS to around 250 hp.

"Under its stubby hood, the Madness Mini had a supercharger drive pulley that upped the blower speed by 15 percent, raising boost from 11.6 to 15.0 psi. Further mods include a ported and polished Madness Stage 3 head with big valves and a Schrick cam, a throttle body bored out from 58 millimeters to 63, a header, and a Borla exhaust system. Larger injectors and a modified ECU added fuel to match the engine's deeper breathing"
Sounds reasonable for a fairly extensive mod package. Why not get in touch with Mini madness?

On the track, the firm chassis paid off with the best road-course time—by 1.5 seconds—among the front-drivers, as well as the best stop in the class from 130 mph at 534 feet.

It's not too far out of line, and if they did a bunch of massaging of the car to get it to really scream, then it really adds up.

I believe that GM made an engine called a Quad 4 (4 cylinder) back in the 80s which was used in Oldsmobiles, made 500+ HP with a supercharger and some other routine mods. This was a screaming LITTLE engine! When you have a supercharger and work the heads, pistons, put in a cam, headers etc, you really goose the juice!
Lots of people have similar results for less invested. I have not read the article. Does it claim wheel hp? Calibration of the dyno and whether it is "at the wheels" is important to know.
My 2003 MCS with 57000 miles has 15% pulley, RMW head and tune, OBX header, cheap ebay ($350) no name aftermarket exhaust, 440 cc Bosch injectors and Alta intake. That is about it for performance goodies.
239 hp,
190 ft lb. tq. at the wheels.
See my Gallery. No cam, no bigger throttle body, stock intercooler.
IMHO, best deal is the RMW head and tune.

I don't think it's the same car, but George is making some impressive results on MINIs. 2 years ago at the 1st NAMCC race (AMVIV3), George's flat black car was the only car seriously competitive in the unlimited class with Randy Webb's "Mule".
