summer shoes

maybe it's too soon to start talking summer but i've got these tires and wheels sitting eagerly in my garage. being a new MINI owner, when does everyone in NJ (north for me) make the switch to summer wheels and tires? i've heard sometime late next month but want everyone's opinion. especially those who have had MINIs for a few seasons with our wacky nj weather.

in other news, i'm approaching 5k and still on the fence about a first oil change (waiting vs. getting it done). also, on my way to work this morning, my left driver-side fog light seeminly bit the dust. my 07 JCW MCS gave me a "parkingd lamp notice"...spelling error and all.

Hello from RI....also wacky winter weather country.......

The general rule I always hear quoted for the switch to summer rubber is after the temp hits 50 consistently.........

Good luck! (nice shoes btw)

Last March, the NY metro area got a snow storm on the 16th. I should
know b/c I had a service appointment that day and I drove up to Prestige on the Dunlop Summer tires.

Afterwards, I was planning to drive down to Maryland but that was scrapped b/c of the snow.

I would hold off until mid-April. Hopefully by then all the potholes from the winter freeze/thaw cycle will be patched up.

Living in N.NJ myself, I usually wait till mid-April.

We usually get an "April Blizzard" early...
I like the spelling error... I'd goto the dealer and have them replace it...
(either the bulb, or connector...)

done. now i have to watch all those lovely north nj potholes and do my best not to freak out about curb rash. for anyone else who has black wheels like these, what do you guys do to keep them looking good?

also, those are the pirelli p-zero run flats.

They look nice on your car, but I would of went without the runflats.

how come? harsher ride? my other set are the 16" all-seasons that come standard. besides ride quality, i haven't seen much other arguments against run flats but i'm new to this whole MINI thing and car forums in general so if i'm wrong, def let me know.

16" RIMS

I'm going to a 16" rims, black with red lip. I'm also looking at 205/50/16 tires from Falkens ze912, I believe.
