Windows roll down on their own...

So my dad runs in this morning waking me up yelling that my car looks like Lake Erie. This is now the third time this has happened, I'll have locked up my car at night and then go out there in the morning and the windows will be down. The other two times it has been sunny, but today there was a thunderstorm... I know this is a function on the key, but I leave them on my desk every night, so... Anyone else had this problem?

No I've never heard of this but I couple times I've hit the function on the key a couple times when I've locked it and then in the morning (although mine is in the garage) my windows will be open a bit.

If it continues take the key to the dealer to possibly reconfig.

Yes, I have had this happen. I took mine in and the dealership couldnt find out what was going on or replicate the issue. Mine normally has happened in the past when its been damp, luckly only damp and not raining. The only advice the techs gave me was that they could de-program the key fob. ;

Set up some large patio umbrellas or one of those foldable sun shelters to park under.

Yeh, I just don't see how it's doing it unless the key is somehow sending a signal without me pressing the button. It happened again last night in the snow, luckily I caught it before too much got in there.

Pull the fuses for the windows. It's winter anyway, right?

Could be a signal from something else on the same frequency as your remote.
Just a guess but if it keeps happening and you are not pressing the remote it is possible.

That's what I though because it's only happening at night... I'm taking it to the dealing though to get that taken care of and a tune up while I'm at it.

The BC1 is what controls this function....You need a BC1 and or check for water ingress to the BC1...I have seen about 5-6 of these over the years and have not had a repeat complaint after the repair. How close are you to Charleston, SC???

My BMW M3 did this everytime you touched it the windows would go down. It was kinda funny. I found out it was a simple ground. Once the sunroof opened half way at the same time, I just figured the Gremlins were a little mad at me.

Search for posts from 2-3 years ago. Probably a result of the car programmed to open/close windows/sunroof with the key. Where'd everybody go? 2 years ago you'd have had folks jumping in with the threads.

Moisture in the BC1 main connector would be the first place to look. Un-plug big connector, dry it out, check for any signs of corrosion on the pins, spray with electric contact cleaner and plug it back together.

Now the hard part is figuring out how the moisture is getting in there!!
