Replacement Wanted for OEM Intake Hose

I have a 2006 MCC automatic and really want to find an aftermarket replacement for the air intake hose. Alta has them for MCS and even MC if it is a manual transmission, but I can not find a replacement for mine. I want, no strike that, I NEED a red one because it is fastest and it would match my current engine bling thing:

You can see I painted the OEM one, but since it is rubber the paint is just not holding up.
So help me if you can - please!

Chuck

Have an exhuast shop mandrel bend you a tube the same diameter and then powdercoat or paint it....It will be cheaper in the end.

Really? That's a thought I never would have come up with. How would you do the little nozzle coming off the side?

I know that the MCS has a different hose for Auto/Manual...But I thought that the MC is the same no matter what.

The reason that the MCSA has a different hose is that the TB is in a different spot slightly. Your Throttle body is in the same spot as a manual

Have the ehaust shop drill the hole...put a 1/4" or whatever sized tube on there and have them weld it...It shouldnt cost more than $50 tops!

i've been searching too since the anodized thread. i can't find one though. maybe if we contact samco or alta they would make one if there was enough demand. i would definitely like a blue one.

i was also looking for some type of silicone tape you could "wrap" the hose with but, gave up. can't find what i was envisioning.

i'll send an email to samco right now though!

I never know when the AT makes a difference or not. I had some disappointing results when I went for the Craven MINI Dipper. First they said it would work with a MC and then when it didn't they said it was because it was an AT. Anyway, I am now very explicit with my descriptions.
Whitey, please be sure to let me know what you find out.
Thanks for the help and thanks for the complement Cycleguru.

All you have to do is to call the dealer, get a part # for your factory hose and get them to do a parts search for application and it will come up with a list of cars that it will fit. If your hose crosses to manual trans car, then viola it will work. PM me with your VIN(last 7) and I'll check

Which shows no difference, or at least doesn't spec out a different hose for Auto/Manual....

Nice site, put that in the favorites

Have either of you looked at the K&N Typhoon intake? That is what I have and the tube is red. Pretty sure they have a blue one too. And if you go with the make your own option, I have seen cars that just put a little air filter instead of connecting the hose to the intake.

Spectre has a line of modular intake components that let you piece together whatever shape you need, maybe that would work if there is a difference between the auto and manuals.

Well looking at RealOEM (a site I frequent BTW) the part numbers for the MC & MCS are in fact different. For the MC it is part number 13721477839 and does not show to be different between the manual and AT. For the MCS it depends on if it is a manual or AT with the manual being 13721491743 and the AT being 13717552223. So I would guess at this point that the MC & MCS are not interchangeable.
As far as K&N, I am trying to find a replacement for the OEM that will work with either the stock or AFE intake (since it uses the same hose). As a last resort I may have to just go aftermarket hose and filter but that would mean ditching my AFE.
I looked at the Spectre site too, but did not see anything that would possible fit. Perhaps I missed it?
Thanks for all the help NAMers, more ideas are welcomed.

at the spectre site click on catalog - then MODULAR INTAKE COMPONENTS (second on the list i think) then on 2" or 3" chrome intake tubes. scroll to the bottom right and there is a "mock up" kit of plastic "joints" etc.. i believe you use the mock up kit to create the intake hose you would need then you send it to spectre and they recreate it for you. using the dealer locator it looks like kragen carries the kit. it's about $13. the $13 is rebated towards the intake hose if you buy the finished product from them. you may contact them and see if they can do them in colors. also they make an intake kit for 3 different BMW's. maybe a contact to them and they could do the cooper and "S"? again there would have to be enough interest i suppose otherwise it would be a custom thing, may be expensive though. maybe not.

PS- i want a blue hose and did consider the k&n kit with the blue hose. but, i'm not going to give up my aFe for awhile, now i have it. like it too much. i can live without a blue hose but, not the aFe. but you never know in time since the k&n is ACTUALLY carb approved. if i ever got dinged on smog inspection or by the police then i may switch out to the k&n. also the typhoon w/ the heatshield kit is only in chrome.

i frequent realoem way too much as well BTW. you know it's bad when you know the last 7 of your VIN by heart.

i'm losing my mind...

I'm going to check out the modular system from Spectra. I like chrome and it may be a fairly easy way to get rid of the OEM hose. Plus there is supposed to be a couple of dealers near me. I'll keep you all posted.
Thanks for the suggestions!

yeah keep us posted. i don't have the time with work right now to mess with it. chrome would be cool i could just shoot it with the metalcast blue since it is REALLY meant for painting over chrome anyway and match it to the rest of my bay.

just make sure when you use the mock up, that you remove your intake hose and fit the kit on the MINI and make absolute sure it will work ok. actually it should be fairly simple. the hos should be pretty short no? seems like the stock hose is sort of overkill in length.

guess the same would apply in my case with the typhoon kit with the heat shield. but, it's like $250 and it's heatshield doesn't look like it would seal as well as the aFe. a new hose would be ideal. but, again, always an option since it is CARB approved which is always nice here in the oppressive state of california.

So I got the Spectre fit kit yesterday and started putting pieces together. The best I could come up with was two 90 deg elbows, but it wasn't quite right. I may just go ahead and get the legit pieces and then have to do some slight angling at the throttle body and filter heat shield to get them to fit. I'm still wondering if a Alta silicone one would work though. I did repaint my OEM so the red is back to Chili, but for how long I can't say. I don't think it is the heat discoloring it but rather the rubber affecting it.
