Question about the auto wiper sensor module

ok i know how the module connects to the thing stuck to the inside of the windshield, u pull down those 2 little clips, and it slides off. the actual model that is stuck to the glass though, how is that stuck on? tape, glue?

reason i need to know is becuase i got my windshield replaced becuase a little rock must have hit it months ago, and it was a TINY crack, but in Florida its free windshield replacment, so i got it replaced for free. i wouldnt have, but my bass would have made the crack get bigger the first day i install it, so i just replaced it.

the replacement glass, however, the little module thats stuck to the glass from the factory for the wiper sensor, it must be double sided tape, becuase on the outside of my windshield, theres a huge bubble of air it looks like, and it looks horrible, especially since my whole winshield is tinted black, theres a big white-ish looking dot like the size of a nickel!!!

how would i fix this? just take it off, and get some glue for a rear view or something to re-mount it? ill get a pic later today to show u guys what it looks like.

it just annoys me every time i go to get in my car!

Who did the install on your "free" windshield? Seems they should be responsible for installing the sensor correctly.........

I'd take it back to the installer and let them deal with it..........sounds like it might be a defective windshield........

Did you use the OEM glass replacement for MINI's with the rain sensor?

I would Take it back to the glass shop (or the dealer) and have them fit the sensor properly. After all, glass replacements carry a lifetime warranty, no?

Do it, otherwise one day the sensor is going to fall in your lap.

I have had 2 MINIs with the wiper sensor ('04 and '05 MCS) but thankfully, until now, I have never had to deal with it, so I am not sure as to how it "sticks" to the surface of the glass. It could well be glue, air suction or even small screws/clips.

If in doubt, take it back to the dealership. At least they should be able to tell you how the sensor should be put back in there after the glass has been replaced.

Geez, I would think this is standard procedure written somewhere, either service bulletin or service manual.

Also check www.mini2.com as I am sure someone, somewhere has dealt with the same problem before.
