January Photo Contest Winner :: 89Akurt
The winner of the January 2008 Monthly Photo Contest with the topic "Sunset" in a landslide decision was 89Akurt. Congratulations!
Thanks to all who took the time to vote #6. 88 is a favorite number of mine, and 66.67% of 9 entries is very satisfying.
For those who voted for any of the other ones, what can I say?
I wish to encourage all who entered, or just missed entering, to continue taking pictures. I recently looked at my early stuff on Flickr, and am wanting to delete any evidence that I've taken plenty of snapshots.
As for the shoot that evening, this is an unaltered shot of just the sunset:

This still looks normal to me with the black ground.

For anyone who wondered why I parked like that, it's to block this gate. The section of abandoned road I can access is about 200 yards long. (my signature is the other direction)

This is my attempt at HDR with PHOTO IMPACT Pro ($55 program, a bit cheaper than PhotoShop). Just because one can click a few buttons don't make it masterpiece. This was the first shoot, if the other sunset didn't happen, I had something to enter, even with the faulty sensor.

This is the first time Swifty was taken with a sunrise(sunset).
Finally, I want to thank RallyStanceDesign (formerly RallyMini) for starting the sunset thread, for without a reason to think I could do better, what would I be?

Thanks for your support. You can kick my butt next time.
Only if the theme is filthy MINIs in SoCal.

From some of the comments regarding your entry, it was obvious some posters never looked at your body of work, especially your Flickr stream.
