Grease for my suspension bits

Is there a specific brand or type of grease that anyone can recommend?
Since I've got my suspension apart and am putting in a lot of new pieces I'm going to need to re-lube everything.

Any recommendations? One grease for everything or diff'rent grease for diff'rent folks, I mean parts Couldn't resist.

I know CV joints take the special grease that comes with the boots.

When I was looking for grease for my rear swaybar, Way and Randy Webb were recommending Energy Suspension Prelube... it's a nice, thick white paste. My local O'Riley's autoparts was able to order it for me in 2 days.

I bought the 5oz tub and packed it myself into a grease gun so I can lube my control arms and swaybar every time I rotate the tires.

If you mean grease for the grease nipples (you need a gun to service them), I just used the red suspension grease available from Harbor Freight. Set me back about $12 or $15 all told including the gun, and it's the same grease that all of the local classic Mini guys know use. Do yourself a favor though and get the STRONGEST gun you can and not one of thise miniature one-hand jobbies - some of the grease points require a good bit of pressure to force the fresh grease into the seals and break free the crusted stuff - listen for the "crack" of the dried-out grease popping free, then squeeze in a bit more, then after 5 minutes or so wipe off the red overflow with a rag.

Some grease in the tubes for grease guns is also rated for CV's Read the labels carefully. Buy high quality, name brand lubes.

I'll see what grease guns I can find, but a small one I think would work - everywhere there's a grease point on my car is going to have all brand new grease and new nipples so I don't foresee any problems with dried up grease at least for the time being.

If you keep it lubed properly, the grease shouldn't dry out, no... What happens is the stuff sitting on the outermost layer skins over with grime and mud and crud, forming a cap that "cracks" off under pressure. Let me know how much of a chore replacing the nipples is though - on my '92 one of the LH front ones (there are multiples up front) is VERY tight, and it takes a LOT of effort to force grease into the nipple. replacement might be the way to go.

Not sue how to grease the CV boots... I'm taking the car to a skilled Mini mechanic before the next motoring season for a brake inspection, so maybe I'll have him check the front suspension bitz while he has the wheels off the car - good idea.
