Suspension powerflerx installed, rattle continues!!!
powerflerx installed, rattle continues!!! Damage found!!
I installed the front control arm bushings on my copper but the old rattle that I heard before continues
, I verified the 2 ball joints and they are in good shape. What else can be??:impatient
Some people tell me that can be the strut upper plate?? Are they very sensitive??? How I know they are damaged?, I verified the bearings inside them and are oK!
I read something about Ireland Engineering fixed camber plates, are they a good upgrade??
Please help me to figure this.
Also I have the rear trailing arm bushings, can some post pics of how to change them on an 05 MC or MCS???

If it's in the front..
There are two ball joints, the control arm bushings, the sway bar end-links and the sway bar bushings. There's the upper and lower spring perch, and the stut bushing. Then you have the hubs, the drive shafts and lug nuts.... Oh yeah, there's the strut pinch bolt (what clamps the lower end of the strut, the strut won't come out if it's loose, as it goes through a hole in a tab....)
I'd bet it's somewhere around the sway bar of the top of the strut.
When does it happen?

I'd check...
1) lug nuts. Do you have hub centric rims? Old ones to try? Are they multipiece rims?
2) Sway bar end link.
3) Pinch bolt (it's easy to get to).
4) Forgot this one last time.... Caliper frame mounting bolts and caliper slides. Does it happen when under braking?
5) Strut top stuff.
6) Strut bar bushing bolts (royal PITA).

I get that sensation a lot now. I wasn't totally confident that I reinstalled everyhting the last time I removed the subframe. This time everything is perfect including new sway bar bushings, ball joints and tie rods.
So I agree with the Doc. I reinstalled my stock struts last spring and they have a total of about 95K miles on them now. They are really tired! I imagine that the stiff Powerflex bushing will in some way exaserbate thsi since the old floppy rubber bushings might have taken some of the sting off that sensation/vibration. I dunno???

If the sound is the strut plate, should I buy the IE fixed camber plates??

If the bushing in the strut plate is cracked, then it is possible that it is the cause. The IE plates will fix that and hopefully keep it from happening again. Just look under the hood and you can usually tell if the rubber is cracked in the strut mount. If that is the case, then you may want to check for shroomage.
Finally I found the rattle reason, it is the passenger side strut upper plate and obviously mushroom effect
. I will replace the plates with IE fixed plates and also install the strut tower defenders from craven.
