INFO BOOTH/TABLE
INFO BOOTH/TABLE
Ok, so I've hit the commit button and offered to do this.
I've given it some initial thought, and here's what my idea is so far.
A centrally located info table (in the Adventure Center?) with:
Maps of the local roads.
Local restaurant info.
Event schedules and descriptions.
A list of FRS channels for the various groups who have reserved said channels.
A list of participating vendors and the services they offer.
I thought the info booth/table could be a 9 to 5 operation during the Dragon. Volunteers could do 4 hour shifts, unless we get a lot of volunteers. Then 2 hour shifts could be implemented. I will devise a schedule that will be distributed to all info table/booth volunteers in advance of the start of the Dragon itself.
Any other info that you all want to be included should be posted here. If you want to volunteer, post here so I can keep track of everybody.

it seems that in past years, that while most of this info was included in welcome packs, a lot of folks don't read their info packets. They then wander around, wondering what's going on. I've heard, in past years, that folks would like to have an info table, so I volunteered to help out.
If the general opinion is that an info table isn't needed, then that's ok too.

ok, thanks! That's one....
Committed? Yes!... Convicted? Never!
I'm not quite sure when I'll be able to help but I will commit at this time and give you the times later.
I went to my first Dragon as an unregistered guest
and so did several others that I met there.
Because of this we really didn't know what was going on and when it was happening.
So I think the table is a great idea...
As a matter of fact I was already planning on bringing a small 12" monitor to play
MOTD videos of the past just so that others that are new to the event can get a better idea of what is offered.
The videos have been collected from YouTube with the permission of those that have posted them.

Great idea Katie, I had suggested this myself to Mark after last years event. I spent alot of time at the Adventure Center setting up the Welcome Dinner and helping Matt with the Brewswap and can't tell ya how many folks I answered questions for, even though they had a welcome package.
In the parking lot sequence at the Main Lodge, mine is the DKSilver S with the UJ roof graphic and the big honkin' fogs and driving lights, which I flashed at the camera...
I'll help out Katie.
I'm crushed that you didn't ask for my video.
Of course it's just of the Dragon and not a 'event' per se so might not be what you're looking for... If you do want it I'd be happy to send a DVD.

Turns out my bad memory. He did talk to me. Oops. Sending him a dvd...
Katie, Sign me up. Since transplanting to the Smoky Mountains from Florida last year, I've learned just enough about the area to be dangerous. I'll be available the entire time and would like to help you get set up and then man a few shifts. If you need anything from the area, I could pick it up from the local Chambers of Commerce as well.

Thank you so much

Sign me up - I am happy to help in any way I can. I will find out if my husband has time too. I can probably help on Friday. Wednesday is arrival day for our club, Thursday we have the MINI Monte Carlo Night to get set-up and Saturday is Little Dragons. Oh my, I am tired already! hee hee!
Folks, a couple of things to keep in mind..
If you decide to help out, please PM me right away with your full name, # of shifts you're willing to do and on what days, and your email address.
Please check the schedule of events, so you are able to attend the ones you want and help out at the table. Here is a link to the schedule so far
http://www.minisonthedragon.info/MOTD2008.html
If you sign up for a shift, and don't show up....I will hunt you down. You really don't want me to do that, so please think carefully before you commit.
Please don't sign up for manning a shift on the day you arrive unless you're willing and able to do so.
Any and all are welcome to help out, tho' I'd prefer MOTD veterans. If you're a newbie but still want to help, then I will try to schedule a veteran to share your shift.
That's all for now. So far we have 6 volunteers. In order to cover all 4 days, I need a minimum of 16.
