I have almost all the shifts covered...still working on a few details. Now, if the counties will give us several hundred each of what I need for free, then my job is done.

..well, not really....

Per Katie's request - posting this note here.

I beg you - everyone who volunteers please show up. We had a number of volunteers not show up last year and it created a number of issues. So if you commit to doing this, please do it. Working a table like this should be a lot of fun!

Katie, I was interested in volunteering, but I didn't want to commit until after I had made my registrations, etc., I don't want to be forced to chose between a two good bookings (even tho the schedule is up, I am not sure how much $ to spend on events) Even though it's only 2 months away, that still seems really far off. I could always commit to being willing to sit there and help keep another volunteer entertained, that way I could give you a definitive time later...Lauren

Lauren, that's understandable and why I urge all volunteers to check the schedule first.
If, in a month or after you've registered, you're still interested in helping me out, I still need a volunteer for THURS May1st, the 1-5 shift and Saturday May3rd, both the 9-1 and the 1-5 shifts.

To all info table volunteers. As an added incentive to make sure everyone shows up for their designated shifts, there will be a prize for each of you.

The prize is very cool, but you'll only get it if you show up for your shift. I will be in control of said prize, and will be checking in with each shift to make sure it's covered.

So, to repeat..show up for the shift you've committed to and get a free, extremely cool prize, courtesy of me, your fearless leader. No show = no prize, and my wrath.

LOL..nope.
And playing 20 Questions will get you zip. So you'd just have to show up.
I have Thursday May 1st 1-5 shift with hahnsie, or Sat. May 3 9AM to 1PM with me, or Sat. 1-5 with hahnsie. Which would you like, Dave?

I know it's early to commit, but I;d like to have at least the minimum. I'm sure that as it gets closer, more folks will be able to help out...

Let's just say this isn't my 1st Dragon, hence I have knowledge and experience in what it takes to plan something like this down there. So, I use every tactic at my disposal, including bribery...er...um I mean...incentives. Yeah, that's it ...incentives.

Since all the organizing has to be long distance, I have to get a jump on this.

With the number of registrants we can just gather them all in the adventure center for a quick Q&A, we won't even need an info table!

I'm baa-aaack

I wanted to get the word out to all you Dragon folks.

The info table, while being as comprehensive as I can make it for the 1st time out of the box, will have a limited supply of hand outs.

To cut costs, I based # of handouts on the # of CARS registered, since most cars will have more than 1 person in them.
To that end, there will be 350 of EACH of the following at the info table:

Vendors List...if I can get my hands on a final copy, that is...ahem.
Summary of the Daily Drives.
Graham County Info Packs..if there are left overs, they can be re-used.
Reserved radio channels list
Maps of Fontana Village...maybe not 350 of these, cuz you'll get one at check-in at Fontana. I'll start with 100...these, I can get more of.

I tried to add a reasonable amount of extras. Since I have no idea how many non-regs are coming, I have to lowball it for economy's sake.

So please, I'm begging all Dragon attendees to think one bunch of info PER CAR, ok?

TIA

Katie

I'll be leading the Joyce Kilmer drive and I plan on allowing last minute guests to join us.
I think I remember someone mentioning a potential board near the info table to list impromtu drives and scheduled drives that may still have openings.
Is this still an feasable option?
