AHH OWNING A MINI IS SOO HARD!!

what mod to do and how i should do it and all these choices!!!!@$@#%#! hahahha.

one of the main reasons i started this thread was that.. I was looking through the photo's of the classic mini's and saw that the wheels were placed quite wide. and (found out that they were called "adding spacers" on other cars), and was wondering if there were spacers already out for the r56.

question 2:
I'm considering blacking out the rings around the headlight and tail light... but I'm thinking Just blacking out the chrome surround on the tail lights. also give the front and back a slight tint.

i have a white mini, and it looks good if you blackout both sides (as seen on other cars of other colors), but don't know if it's going to look a bit cheap? . and was just worried i might lose a clean look of my car.

so many decisions!!! oh the side markers? anyone prefer certain side markers over other ones? want to keep the S but thinking about blacking them out!! saw that there are a few people that do that.

(hope i'm not stepping on anybody's toes, when I ask or say on the questions/comments above. just my personal opinion)

Thanks.

I have seen the spacers you are looking for in the Moss Catalog, although you can likely buy them from any performance shop. Will they fit the R56? Ask them. I think the blacking out of the chrome on the pepper whites look awesome.

Good luck.

they have some cool fake carbon fiber and real carbon fiber side markers with clear lights. black out all the chrome except the handles and the gas cap.

i like the blacked out look on the pepper white because it punches up the contrast. your car looks great with anthracite wheels.

i would recommend that your first real mod be a rear sway bar. pull in the reigns on that suspension.

congrats on your mini and good luck with the mods

Back in a previous millennia, when I was in high school autoshop, putting spacers on wheels was a really bad idea. It moved the center of force exerted on the wheel bearings so they would wear out quickly. Don't know whether the technology of wheel bearings has changed since then, but I would check it out first.

the spacers are just a visual pleasure to me. Gives it a very classic mini look (in my eyes). Anthracite is pretty nice for rims, thinking of a six spoke or those Y spoke rims.

should i black out the silver rings on both the headlights? or just one of the other... (was thinking about just doing the taillights).

I'm pretty much ok with the mod situation. My problem now is I just can't get enough time behind the wheel!

i'm in the middle of blacking out my chrome on my lightning blue MINI. tonight i did the headlight/taillight rings, gas cap and the side markers. all i have left is the belt line (have the stuff just needs to be warm enough). for the blacking out process i recommend ordering the stuff from lyle at Lyle's Vinyl Styles. he will do the vinyl wrap fro you and you can either send him your pieces and then he will wrap them or he will send you the wrap pieces and then you send him your pieces back the pieces he wraps is the same ones that is on your car now.

i wouldn't do both the taillights and headlights if it was me, to me if you do just one it wouldn't be balanced.

i also have tint for the headlights and taillights that will hopefully get installed next tuesday. i ordered the tint from lamin-x

I haven't gotten my Mini yet but I'm already thinking of dechroming it. I'll probably do the grill right away, then the headlights. Mine will be dark silver and black, with black stripes on the bonnet/boot and silver stripes on the black roof. I'll probably order from JCW when I'm ready to dechrome.

it's very easy to install, the bottom piece just pulls out and the top piece is held in place by 4 screws and about 4 little tabs. to get the taps to let go just use some pliers and squeeze them together and push up. it took me about 10 minutes to install them and that include me having to go get some pliers.

omg i totally know what you mean. i got my car three weeks ago and already made myself the like "home made" intake and have like 9 million other things i want to do. of course my fiance keeps me in moderate check lol. he's always trying to remind me how much everything is going to cost, although his 07 MCS already has an itake, exhaust, and in two weeks his oil temp gauge and we got his in oct. think he's just trying to spend the money on his mini....hmmm... good luck with your mods though hopefully we will both have some soon we can show everyone.

like most of you, I am done with my de-chroming process with the exception of the door handles. IMO, it is the best mod I have done yet and it has giving my MINI a bolder, meaner, and unique look. I have the only MY in Houston with the "black out package".... I've had folks walk up to me and ask me if it is part of a package... I'll have new pictures posted this weekend depending on weather.

yea all i have to do is the beltline (have the stuff just waiting on warmer weather) and the door handles (have them ordered from aesthetic creations-6 more weeks to wait on them ). i also will be getting the headlights and taillights and the lights on the fender flares tinted tuesday.

Yunno, I love the chrome look. I have a DS/DS with a sun roof and have 18" chrome Dragg wheels and I'm thinking of chroming the side view mirrors. NOw if I had a PW, I know i'd feel differently.

hahahaha was quite funny (yeah hopefully we'll have some more mods to show everyone!, but yeah it's hard because i think about the costs, i mean blacking out stuff isn't too hard, but it'll add up.

was goin to go buy it from lyles, but as if now i'm now i'm seeing if i can do it by myself--too save a few bucks.

(saving up for a motorcycle :P).. but uhm, if you guys have any blacked out pics, please post them. I have seen many blackout's on the r53's but not on the r56's. so that would be nice ..

dang modding is pretty such an agonizing, financially...

so After I blacked out my chrome / trunk handle piece, i would tint my fog lights to give it a very sport look.

then. get either new rims (because i have the worst luck when it comes to tires.. (had to replace 4 run flats already within 8 months that i've owned my car---COST ME A FORTUNE!!). So thinking about getting new rims and tires. But the problem is that the mini doesn't come with a spare :(.

then intake...

then sway bar

and the list goes on and on....

but the blackout, fog light tint, intake, wheels/tires, and sway bar would probably all i would do for now... i'm a bit worried about the quality of my car depleting as I start to mod my car... :(

THE AGONY OF BLISS!!!

I'd recommend getting your windows tinted first. It's great. Not too dark or you're going to have to get used to it because you can't really see out of it at night. I did it to my xB and I love it.

Seen this car yet (in another thread nearby)? Serious dechroming/blacking going on here, including the headlight guts ("Joey mod"). Chrome, there's none left to see.
