How about organizing fun runs from various cities to a weekend stay in Las Vegas? I talked with Agro (an active MCO member from Vegas) and he said there's a possibility for discount motel package. I also asked about places to go motor with our MINIs around Vegas and he came up with one right off the top of his head. I guess there's this place just 30 minutes or so from Vegas that's supposed to be great. I'll bet there's other fun roads to motor on.

I'm open to discuss when this should happen. Myself, I was thinking either mid September or sometime in February. One for mid-September when the temps will be quite pleasant for many people as well as being far enough away from the major holiday's so as not be a financial or time burden. The other is in February a little after the holidays so people can recover from the Holiday "madness".

So do you guys have any suggestions or comments on any of this?

Over a year ago I had tried to organize a sweet Vegas event... there was little to no interest...

but who knows now.

I'm game....We can rent the LVMS!

And aquisition a large "event room" for a party

Plus I have some good layouts for events and other special things.

If you wanna talk, lemme know!

GoFAST!

I'm interested in a Vegas meet! I was wondering what ever happened to the one planned a while back.

There's at least four MINI owners in Tuscon and PHX that are interested. We'll go by ourselves if we have to, but I thought it'd be cool to invite everyone else.

Do you think this little "planning" thread should be on MINI talk until it becomes cast in stone that we'd do something like this? Moderators?

Any suggestions for timeframe? I mean, what month would be best for you all to participate in this?

I'm in any time except the 1st 1/2 of November.
There are plenty of MINIs running around town, but next to no Vegas MCO (or even OL) members.

Aaarrrgggghhhhh!!!!!! Can you push towards Thanksgiving weekend? The weekend before is the pulley party, and before that, I'm out of the country.

OK, here's the poop. I think it'd be easiest to try to organize this in one place. I'll be asking the Mod's on MCO and on MINI2 to lock down the threads on this in each of those two places.

We all can coordinate on the Owner's Lounge in Message Boards / The Joy of Motoring / Getting to Know Fellow Owners / Your thoughts on a weekend run to Las Vegas? That way everyone gets to see everyone else's comments on the subject. Cool?

But I hardly look at the OL forums! I'm on here every day!
I guess I can look there as well once a week or so.

Unfortunately, for me, it's getting difficult to manager three different location to plan this. I figure those with a MINI in the US have access to the OL (I think the Canadians don't). So having everyone's comments in one location is going to be key. BTW, Agro, much of the timeframe for this to happen is based upon your availability since you're helping me. I'd hate to have any of your work you've already done and might do to help me coordinate go to waste if you can't be there to enjoy it with us

just my $0.02... But, does anyone know if the "tram" is finished yet? The one that goes from like the Stratosphere to the LV Hilton, then back to the Strip? If so, one of those hotels might be a possibility for everyone. I've been to the LV Hilton a bunch of times and I've liked their parking lots and they have some pretty good packages every now and then. just a thought...

The Monorail is coming along, but I don't think it's gonna be finished this year. I'll see if I can confirm one way or the other. On that, it's no longer going to be free, like the MGM-Ballys and Excalibur-Mandalay monorails were. Those 2 monorails are being incorporated into the new system that will go from the Mandalay Bay at the south end of the Strip all the way to the Stratosphere at the north end.

The Hilton is not a bad location actually. Off the Strip which means access is a bit easier, still a real nice property. The only thing you have to watch out for is convention traffic. It's right next to the Convention Center and holds parts of some of the bigger conventions (COMDEX, SEMA, etc). COMDEX is november.

Dates, I'm good for anything except 10/31-11/17 and the Phoenix pulley party on 11/22-23.

I thought this thread was dead the other day, so I asked Mark to lock it down. Now however, this thread is active again and I'm having a real hard time thinking about having it shut down. Just be warned, there's some additional information that you may want to check out over in the OL when you have a chance.

Mark, thanks for not doing what I requested!

Status update:

I just e-mailed all the MINI and Mini clubs I could find an e-mail address for. So I should be getting some more information soon.

Also I plan to have a date set by the end of next week so we can start making serious plans for this. Good planning never hurt anyone right? LOL

p.s. Agro, there's a guy in the OL that goes by 2Fast2Fun and he says he's in Vegas.

Any excuse for going to Vegas for a weekend is a good one. The road up from Wickenburg has a few good areas for MINIS. Let's do it!
