Hey all. I'm in the process of installing a new Sirius unit in my Mini. I've done a lot on my car, but this is new to me. I searched for downtube removal but it didn't really come up with anything. If any of you can give me some kind of step by step instructions or a link to them it would be very highly appreciated. The same thing goes for the Head unit, although I'd like to think I could figure that out once the tubes are out. Thanks

 

Sorry that I don't have a link to them but I did see something recently about this. There are differences between the early and 05-06 tubes since the later ones are flared at the end and are supposed to be removed from the bottom rather than straight up as in the earlier verisons.

This is something that I have to do as well and I didn't realize the differences in the tubes till i received the newer ones for my older '04 MCS. Not sure if they are usable so I could also use some info as well.

Well I have a 2004 S. Good to see this got more complicated. Lets see if we can't get an answer. I'm sure quite a few people have done this. So please don't be shy and speak up!

You don't have to remove the tubes to get the HU out. You must un-screw them, the 2 torx on each side will loosen them up. Then pull on the bottom of the center dash and it will pop forward enough to let you move the tubes. Pull the tubes toward the back of the car out from under the center dash piece and then you can spread them enough to get at the screws holding the HU in place.
