Contemplating "Joey" mod-opinions appreciated

I'm on vacation this week with nothing planned. This means my Mini is at my mercy as it sits so innocently under a cover in the garage. I have been looking to do the so called Joey mod for some time, but have been to busy to do it. I think I'm ready now. My question is, what color to do them in? I am thinking a satin black, Electric blue, or a combo of the two colors. If I used both colors, I would probably do the projector pc and rings in EB, and the rest in black. Here is a pic of the front to show you how it currently looks. What do you think?
Thanks

It looks like your car has dark silver stripes, so how about dark silver to match your stripes?

I had thought about that, but I may be removing the stripes. Thanks for the suggestions!

With the rings painted EB, I vote for satin black.

I would go for black since most all the front grille parts are black.
If not I just did the mod myself and used a darkgrey with silver speckle.
Turned out really nice.
I would leave the rings blue though, since they are already done.
Good luck...

Well, I got the lights apart. Took all of 30 minutes total without the use of an oven (thanks MidniteCoop). After speaking with the body shop that does all my paint work, he brought up an interesting point. Heat. Do the housings get hot enough to effect the paint applied? I know the cars sit in the sun with painted parts exposed, but it seems the HID lights would get pretty toasty. Anyone have any problems yet?

I would paint them EB if you wanted a more Italian look...Ferrari has one color(ex.-instead of painting the headlight rings EB and the "Joey" Satin black.) But, if you wanted more contrast then I would go with the Satin Black...I think I would like either one...

I'm playing around with it now. So far I have painted the projector cover EB and the housing black. I masked off the rings in the housing and will decide whether to go with black or EB. The hardest part so far has been dealing with the high beam housing. I think I need to leave the interior chrome to reflect the light from the H7 bulb. The problem is in masking it off. Even with the blue masking tape, it wants to pull the chrome finish off the plastic.

All done!. In hind site, this mod isn't that difficult to do if you have the face lift headlights. It's very time consuming though. I'm not 100% sure about the blue projector covers (my Mini has eyeballs), but removing them and shooting them black is very easy if I decide I don't like it.
Thanks MidniteCoop for your help. Reading about your experience helped give me the courage to pull apart $2K in headlights.

I'm a big fan of the all black look, but having seen the way your projectors in EB turned out with the rest of it black, I think it looks AMAZING! Well done!

Thanks for all the feedback. I really appreciate the comments. It always takes me a bit to get used to a change I make on the car, especially one as drastic as this.

The two tone looks great. I would do that if I had that style light in my car.

Thanks
As for doing it, it really isn't that difficult, just time consuming.
I haven't had the chance to use them at night yet because much of my interior is still in pieces. I can't imagine it will be affected much, if at all. The HID shines through the projector and I left the housing for the high beam halogen bulb chrome. If anything, it may focus the light a bit better.

Looks sick! The two-tone works really well on your car. Get rid of those stripes though.

Sounds good, you really only need the time.
If you already have the headlights the only things you need to buy is primer and paint....It's easier than people think to do.....and probably one of the cheaper mods that can really make the car look unique!!!
Good Luck!

A friend of mine is working on a Photoshop to see what it would look like without them. They looked good on the car when I first installed them, but a lot has changed since then.
