Saw a nice 1966 mini cooper S on Barrett/Jackson Auction go for $36,000.
Certainly sets a high water mark for original minis. Guess I'll hang on to
my 59 Morris Mini Minor a little longer. Maybe I'll trade it straight across
the board for a loaded Clubman S.

 

And that was from last year. The only Mini on the docket for this year is a 1960 Morris Minor pickup. It is going to be interesting to see how the numbers look this year. I wonder if the bubble has burst in the collector car market too.

 

Is there a photo somewhere of that Mini?

That car was supposedly perfect. Prior owner associated with 7 Enterpises in CA, I understand. Certainly a high water mark. Presently, there's a 64 1071 S on Minimania that looks pretty good offered for $29,000. SHould do mid-20's I think because of rarity.

 

The mini I just sold should be able to do mid-20s...in the quarter mile!

what kind of people do you think bought this? at this price, i'm guess it'll get mothballed or become a museum display? if i get one, i won't be able to be kept from driving it

 

This looks like the same Mini that was on display with the MINI at the Concours d'Elegance in June 2001:



It probably only gets driven on and off the trailer for shows

 

and I'd bet at the price, the seller was still in the red
