Front and rear MINI emblems

Does anyone know if they are just stuck on or are there posts that go into the hood and trunk. I want to shave them off but dont want to find holes underneath.

Thanks.

oh this is on a 04 MCS if that matters.

Believe the tool of choice for removal is dental floss.

I believe there are two alignment holes for at least the front logo, so if you remove it there will be holes. Not sure about the back one.

Correct. There are alignment holes for both emblems.

wow! you guys saved me big! I was getting ready to take these off...that would have been a real bummer to find the alignment holes.

I ordered a new emblem a couple of weeks ago. They have 2 alignment posts, side to side, and thin black rubbery tape. You will have 2 holes roughly 5mm in diameter, roughly 40 some odd millimeters apart (guessing from memory). That is for the smaller front S emblem. The back emblem is bigger, not sure if the holes are spaced wider.

The mini emblems definately have holes for the front and back. I had mine removed the holes welded shut and panel's repainted. I prefer the look but its not worth the hassle unless you're having the panels painted for some other reason.

I thought they had holes, I was just thinking about how to go about pulling mine, so they use tape to stick on? Do they have to be heated? I will need to pull mine this summer when I change my stripes. I do want to put them back on over the stripe.

No need to heat them, just floss them off. If you're careful in removing them it is possible to reuse them, buy the double sided adhesive backing from an auto paint store they know the stuff if you ask for it there.
