The Original Shelby Super Snake
The Original Shelby Super Snake
This isnt exactly new news but I just watched it on Speed. Shelby Super Snake sold for $5million. This was Shelby's own personal car. A twin supercharged 427 Cobra. I think I am in love.

Just for an idea, the original 1965 427 Cobra (not this one) specs
409.9 bhp @ 5600 rpm (sounds under rated if you ask me)
462.0 ft lbs @ 2800 rpm
2282 lbs
top speed 265.5 kph / 165.0 mph
0 - 60 mph 4.5 seconds
0 - 100 mph 10.3 seconds
0 - 1/4 mile 12.4 seconds
"When I built this dual supercharged 427 Cobra in 1966, I wanted it to be the fastest, meanest car on the road," said Shelby. "Forty years later, it will still kick the tail of just about anything in the world. It’s the fastest street legal Cobra I’ve ever owned."
" It has a monstrous 427cid, 800hp twin Paxton supercharged V8 " full article http://www.topspeed.com/cars/shelby/...e-ar25745.html

I'd bet that thing is a beast to drive- Herbie Hancock has a "regular" super snake and mentioned he was scared to drive it for a month or so and that it had a bad habit of swaping ends at the slightest blip of the throttle. The money they scare up at BJ is just crazy-amazing how being on camera boosts already big ego's and causes them to empty wallets. What's the buyers premium-commision? like 18%- that's huge on $5M
"CSX3015 speaks volumes about the genius in Carroll Shelby," said Harley E. Cluxton III, owner of CSX3015. "His Cobra is the benchmark that defines the American Muscle car. His baby does it all, and without the help of ASR, ESP, ABS, engine management ECU’s, carbon fiber, titanium or the United Nations. How cool is that."<--quote from the new owner
that quote made me laugh.
wow, i really didnt think this thread out too much

Herbie had the sales guy drive it to his garage in NYC for him as he was too scared to drive it himself-there was a story in R&T recently about it called "The Watermellon Man"- he's still got it, talk about your nest eggs!
i love the way the twin superchargers look on it. so plain and simple. no frills all business. its my dream car.

Imagine the power you could make out of a Super Snake if a relicar was built using modern technology. Like good (ie-not crap) brakes, EFI, independent rear, roller valve train, modern blowers, all that good stuff that it brings.
He actually took delivery, drove it around the block, handed back the key to Shelby and said no, thanks. He was too afraid to drive it and thought he kill himself.
Cosby was on the Tonight show with Leno and this was pretty much the entire dialogue between them while he was on. Leno's eyes were like...

I think I heard that too- I know Bill had a Cobra, not sure if it was a super snake or not.
