Greetings!
This is my first post in this forum...currently looking for shorter antenna for MCS. Saw a great one in european car's article re: Monster Mini (close-up picture on p.78, Oct. 2002) issue--much shorter than stock and silver, but not like stubbies seen on mini sites. Sorry, no scanner, can't post picture for you to see. Searched minimania, rspeed, etc., but could not find this one... Where to buy? Any info appreciated.
Thanks

Okay, I just answered my own question, but will post the answer in case others want to know. It is the ABD Generation 2 shorter antenna mast for VWs, but apparently, mini's have the same thread for their antenna mast. It costs $29.95, 30 something with shipping and takes 5 business days. I called the number in the article to get the info.
Cheers!

Gotmini.com has 2 shorter antennas for sale also. I am about ready to order the 'super stubby' because I never listen to the radio anyway.
!Here is the web site

Does anyone know if there are any colored antennas? I saw one recently that looked like the billett<?> metal, in blue. I would like one in red to match Dolly, and I haven't been able to find one yet. I thought maybe someone might know of one...thanks

MiniCooperParts.com has those colored billett metal antennas, and yes there is a red one. (I was thinking about getting one myself but have not decided for sure yet...) You can see them here.

I ordered one of those from minicooperparts.com. It' nice! Arrived within a week. I went for black because that's what works for my set up. I bought the damn thing and I'm still waiting for my MCS to arrive (maybe, just maybe, later this week).

Ive tried the colored antennas before and they tend to fade pretty fast.
Perhaps clear coating them will help, but the uncoated anodized blue aluminum antenna I tried faded to near grey in just a couple of months.

Hello,

Just a quick note about our shorty antennas. They are specifically designed for the MINI. While some VW versions will work the actual base of the MINI antenna is slightly different. Our customers report improved AM reception while FM reception is not reduced in most metropolitan areas. The antenna features a full warranty against discoloration or any other defects. They are available for $29.99 including shipping within the contental US. These have even been featured in European Car! Go online or e-mail me to order! Thanks.

Thanks John W. I am heading over to my local Honda dealer to pick up the S2000 antenna now. Good to know it fits fine. I got a little nervous after reading the warning from ALTAperformance about VW antennas not fitting right.

Check out the antennas here... they are cool.
The site says that the short antennas eliminate the remote control car look of the original... i don't agree to this myself, i think the original is cool

Slide up a few posts to Dec. 10th. The folks from ALTA posted a picture. I like the look, personally, and could discern no difference in sound. 'course, I have two shell-like tin ears.

I have also bought the Alta antenna and find it to give good reception. I also like the look vs stock or the S2000.

If you are considering the S2000 you should read through the link shown below. There are some fitting problems with that antenna on "some" MINIs.

Holly, Why don't you buy the one from RSPEED then rough-sand and paint the aluminum sections with some good quality spray.
