Campsites @ Fontana for the Dragon May!
Campsites @ Fontana for the Dragon May!
Hey everyone.. just thought I would put this out there, even though we havent gotten through Christmas yet!
I called Fontana today and they do have campsites!!! Nothing else available but I did reserve a site at the dam!
So... a few options Im throwing out there..
1.) If you choose to camp-- you can throw a tent down on our site
2.) I can call and reserve a few more campsites, just in case anyone wants them.
3.) You can call and reserve your own site. With full hook up they are $35.00 a night. We plan on staying Wed- Sun.. leaving Monday morning!!

Located at the base of Fontana Dam, the Fontana Campground has water and electric hook ups, a bath house, picnic tables and a wonderful view of the river and Fontana Dam. An RV dump station is located 1 mile from the campground. The campground is always cool in the summer due to the cool water coming out of the dam.
John-- you are more then welcome, as is whoever lets me know, to camp at our site. She said there are plenty sites available... 35 for a camper, 25 for a tentsite.. We got the camper site, with hook up so we can plug things in.. very important things.. IE: COFFEE POT!

I did put this on the national forum as well. It's possible we can make this a cool side event of the Dragon.. Camping on the Dragon.. I also added that we could do coffee or breakfast as a group pot luck kinda thing.. before everyone heads out to motor on the day. We plan on being up there for Wed afternoon/evening.

I was at the campground for this past MOTD, and it was great
Got to meet some great folks like Jim Ray and his wife (who are unfortunately now selling their beautiful GP0019) and Brent (of MiniDoMore).
Several of us took hot-plates, and YelloMiniS would have breakfast and coffee going each morning at our site. It became a great social gathering in the morning and early evening.
We had about 3 tents at the one RV site, and we probably could've put another one in there. There is a ton of room down there for lots of tents.
If I go to MOTD, I will certainly go the camping route again -- this is just too far in advance with my job for me to plan anything -- but i highly recommend it to others.
