Introducing Agnetha (Aggi)

My long awaited MY cooper came home last night! When I get home from work, I will upload pics I took at the dealership!

Dealer Impressions:
I purchased at South Bay Mini from Amanda. This was by far the least painful experience I have had in my car buying history. First of all, we both knew what the price was when I ordered Aggi! Amanda took my info ahead of time to make my dealership visit as short as possible. My dealings with Finance were a pleasure. They matched my credit union rate and made the process simple and easy. Amanda took her time and explained how to operate all of the electronic goodies I optioned. If my service / maintenance experience is half as good as what I experienced, I will be well satisfied!

First Drive:
My baby feels like an overpowered luxury go kart! She likes to sneak up to 90 without me even being aware of it. My work commute is 160 R/T so my break in period will not last long. I drove her to the Old Spaghetti factory in Rancho Cucamonga last night. I pulled in with my wife and our suburban close behind and low and behold, there was a pretty blue mini in the lot. Needless to say, I parked Aggi right next to her cousin so they could chat whilst we dined. My kids (16,12 and 8) loved my mini. She corners like a dream and takes off when gently nudged I could not imagine how fast the S is!!! Her engine has a wonderful growl to her. A very fun car!

Extras:
I sprung for extended maintenance. 100K miles was worth 2K for me. I plan on doing a lot of driving. I also got lots of cool mini swag. The backpack picnic set is too cute!

Motoring:
Driving to work today was a pleasure. I had the sunroof open and enjoyed songs while driving the 80 miles. The nav did a great job avoiding traffic. Words cannot describe the elation of driving my mini. It truly is a wonderful experience.

Again, I will post pictures soon!!!!!

Jim

P.S. Thank you Amanda for a wonderful adoption experience!!!!

Congrats! I too am curious about how fast an S would be. I resisted the urge at the dealership. It is fun working the MC engine.

Thanks! I am quite amazed as to the power of the base model. I have never driven the S. It would probably take the rest of my hair off!

It is funny the reaction you get from other drivers when you motor around in a mini. Everyone notices the cute little car!

Oh and the name Agnetha: Named after the blond singer from Abba!!!!
What best for a mellow yellow than a blonde!!!!

Jim,

it appears you have the perfect car for a 160 mile commute. Big SUV and little MINI must be a great comparison. With your three kids, I would keep the SUV, but you could pack the whole family in the MINI for a short drive.

From your descriptions, it appears your already enjoying the drive.

Fun and safe driving.

My wife looked at me funny when I started referring to my mini as her. She asked me why it wasn't a him. I told her that I could not feel the way I do about my mini if it were another guy! Again the funny looks!

She finally got the whole mini unique obsession thing when we arrived at the dealership and there was a nice yellow sign in my dash board congratulating me on my new mini. She was surprised that a dealer would do this.

Almost 300 miles on her and only 2 days! I haven't enjoyed driving to work like this ever.

My Southern California motoring suggestions:
When driving at night, turn on the auto heat to about 80, heated seats to level 1, open the sunroof and play some great music! The ride is fantastic.

Thanks to all for your wonderful comments. I like the yellow / black combination. I also love the different color combinations available on the mini. The BRG looks sharp. Chili Red is always a classic. Pepper white is very dignified and Lightning Blue jumps out at you! You can truly reflect yourself in your mini! My first mod is on the way. The no holes license plate adapter.

Happy motoring!
