Tach re-calibration

Dear mini enthusiasts,
I have made the following mods so far:
15% pulley, crank pulley, JCW ECU (210 HP), headers, Exhaust, Alta CAI, colder plugs and performance plug cables...and JCW injectors on the way .
That being said, would I need to re-calibrate the tachometer after installing the JCW injectors?? .
What do you think?.

You can only change the redline with software, there is no "recalibration". With the mods you have, unless you like blowing motors i'd keep it under 7200 RPM's.

is "7200" the JCW's read line "?. If no recalibration is needed, should I change the tach's face to display the new red line?;
By the way, another mini driver told me about the "re-calibration" at a track day event (TWS)...and it sounded believable...at least to me ;0)

As far as I know JCW redline is the same as stock, it may be 150-200 RPM's higher, i'm not sure. There is no way to change the redline on your tach. When we say redline, we're talking about the rev-limit, the point at which the ECU cuts fuel to prevent you from revving any higher. The redline displayed on your tach has absolutely no significance whatsoever. It's merely a dummy device to keep street drivers out of trouble and prevent tons of warranty claims.

The rev-limit on my car is 8200 RPM's, despite the fact that the actual "redline" displayed on the tach is only about 6700.

and I guess that you termine the red line just by pushing the engine until the rev limiter kicks in, right?.

The redline is really just there to show when the engine is running out of steam. The indicated redline on my tach means nothing to me, my RPM's actually exceed the mechanical limits of my tachometer. Based off acoustic feedback from the engine, and knowing where my car drives best, I plan shift points.

No I typically don't rev my engine until it's bouncing off the rev limiter. It's a waste of time (.25/.5 seconds) to do that. I usually shift 100-150 RPM's before my rev limiter kicks in (Around 8k rather than at the 8150 redline).

Thanks for the explanation...I will determine what is my actual redline (before the rev lim. kicks in) and I will shift 150 RPMs before that.

I have seen a mod to the redline lights on the tach. It can be done.

Well, yes, you can desolder the LED's on the tach, but I think he was looking for something quick and easy (ala reflash).
