I just posted a thread on Mushrooming. It seems that my shock mount is broken (#1 Piece in the diagram above). Do any of you have a quick link to where I can order that piece? Will Mini make me purchase the whole assembly if I only need 1 or 2 pieces?

Tire Rack sells an aftermarket version
http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/s...444&perfCode=P

I just had mine replaced at Mini dealership under warranty. I am guessing, but since the realoem site shows it with a separate model # for that item, that you can buy just that. My realoem site has links to places to buy parts.

Thank you for the links below. This KYB strut tower is priced significantly lower than an OEM Mini strut tower.

EDIT.
Could somebody tell me if on OEM Struts there is a rubber insert somewhere ie in points 7 or 8?? I have had KW Variant 1 Coilovers fitted for about a year now but lately i seem to be getting a bit of crashing almost grinding sound... I can't remember clearly but i am sure when the my KW Coilovers were fitted the tuning company omitted the rubber support (IF THERE IS ONE) as they said i think it wasn't required... I may be talking complete rubbish and just throwing things about in my head but it was nearly over a year since they were fitted, so i'm quite vague on this. Pondering many things as to what is going on with my suspension

Do aftermarket Coilover kits come with the top supports or are OEM existing ones used?? I am not very technical when it comes to suspension but all the pics i see of Front KW Variant 1 coilovers dont show anything on top of the springs.... Can anybody help on this probably ridicolous query??

I had the car in at the dealership a month ago about the noise and they reckoned that there was slight movement in the front nearside balljoint but didn't reckon it was worth replacing and to leave it and see if deterioates over the coming months.. Could this cause the crashing effect when sometimes going over bumps etc and some bumpy turns... The roads in Scotland are not the best..

Any advice here would be much appreciated...

8 is rubber, and should be used with all aftermarket shocks, at least the ones I've seen that use larger coils (some are captive with their own topcap.)
