Actual Gas milage MC or MCS?

So im looking to buy my pepper white mini on saturday!! i cant wait
the dealer tells me they have one that is almost exactly what i wanted to order but in the S and close to the price of what i wanted standard.
The reason i wanted the standard was because of the great gas milage.
I just wanted to know what people are really getting...
are you really getting 32/40 with the standard?
are you really getting 29/36 with the S?

thank you

When I drive, driving gently to save gas is one of the last things in my mind.
Right now the avg on my OBC ( can't remember when I reset it) is 32.5 mpg.

With just under 700 miles on my MSC Manual, my average for the first 700 miles is 34.7 MPG. My driving is 50% highway and 50% city. I don't have heavy traffic on the highway or in the city so it is 60 MPH on the highway and city speeds and stoplights in the city. I have not pushed the car as I am still in the "break in" period. I am quite pleased with the mileage, although that is not why I bought the Mini. I bought it for the fun factor.

.
That is because anything over 30 mpg is just phenomenal with my driving style!

i am actually getting the MINI for its fuel mileage... well thats not the only reason of course... IMHO the MINI has the best balance between fun and fuel efficiency of pretty much any car out there. If i wanted solid MPG i woulda got a boring hybrid, Honda Fit, or Toyota Yaris

MC 6-speed, almost 3000 miles since August.

Avg MPG ~34
Avg MPH ~38

33% hard-driving twisty fun
34% gridlock commute and city streets
33% light traffic freeway

I know my MPG would be significantly better if I cut out the fun twisty runs, but that would defeat the purpose of having chosen the MINI

Lately I've been doing frequent commutes between central PA and Washington DC, a door-to-door roundtrip of 266 miles. I have carefully measured fuel fillup quantities vs. miles driven over several iterations, and I was astonished to discover that my 2007 MCS with 5500 miles on the clock, is consistently turning 38.2 MPG on this trip. In contrast to my usual rather aggressive driving style, when commuting I put the car on cruise control and drive at 65 or 75 MPH, depending on the (heavily patrolled) speed zones. Driving at constant, reasonable speeds highlights the efficiency of the new BMW/PSA motor. This car is not only fast, but it can be frugal as well. Best of both worlds.

Percy is an S. Zipping around town I get 28-32 mpg per tank, hand calculated. Short road trip (200-400 miles) I get upper 30's.
Took a long trip out west. Every tank was above 36 mpg, hand calc'd. Best was 43.8 thru Utah. We stopped a bunch for pics, lunch, and most of the stop signs . The OBC said we averaged 69 mph, but I would have guessed a little higher.

My MINI is averaging a little over 38mph - but I am not through break in yet, it may well go a bit higher after another 1000 or so miles.

I get 27 mpg overall in my MC automatic, mostly city driving. I get around 20 mpg driving in Manhattan only and about 38mpg highway cruising. Oh yeah, I use the sports button 99% of the time.

Still in break in, first 420 miles took 12.6 gallons to fill the tank. That's 33.3 mpg.

I'm really disappointed in my gas mileage so far. I feel like they lied to me...then I read this thread and see my mileage is an outlier. Obviously, I'll get less than an MC, but many here have an MCS and have listed very respectable numbers.

My last tank was 50% highway and I still only barely managed to break 30mpg. This is doing my own calculation, not using the computer. I average 80mph when doing freeway driving. Is this the problem?

In the city, I'm at 27mpg or lower all the time. I use my sport button for <1 mi daily (only because of this gas mileage issue.) My Mini has gone 1700 miles already, so I don't think it will continue to improve much.

What gives?

MCSa here with almost all freeway driving averaging around 29 MPG. The freeways have traffic about 80% of the time, so I am really doing about 80% stop and go and 20% freeway.

How you drive makes a huge difference on your gas mileage. Quick acceleration and then cruising as long as possible is the best general method for highway driving. Engine slowing rather than braking also helps.

If you are averaging 80 then yeah I think that's the issue. Sure this car is efficient but you are keeping the revs higher than the people cruising at 65-75 for sure.
The 27 in the city is ok, I get 30 on NJ city streets and NJ/NY highways (generally rush hour driving but still in break in mode). I'm sure on roadtrips I can clock in at 34-36 as I basically did that on the first weekend I had the car.
