MP3 title display?

I have an '07 MC with the standard sound system.

I have seen pictures of people apparently playing mp3's via the new USB and the title of the track shows up in the display, like the thumbnails on this post:

http://www.mini2.com/forum/mini-coop...ml#post3144380

When I play mp3's from a CD I burn, mine just says "Track 107" or whatever in that space. I have to go to the 'list' or 'track' function to see the name.

Is this a new feature with the USB or should an mp3 CD do this, too? Am I doing something wrong when I burn my CD's? Is there some setup on the stereo I have missed? Is there a firmward upgrade?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

I get "track" and a 3 digit number along with an abbreviated title. I'm burning through iTunes.

If you burn a CD in iTunes, complete with song titles, artist etc., and then open the CD in Media Player or some other 3rd party CD player - the titles will not show either. Perhaps it is an Apple thing?

I don't use iTunes, I just burn the files using a CD utility.

Another little side note, my wife's Toyota shows the names on the display from the same CD.

Dang, I thought that this was a big miscue in the radio from the r53's, if it's still there on the r56 then it's rather disappointing.

Why would you have a radio that displays the song titles of what the radio is playing, but not cd text / mp3 titles? It's ridiculous!

Sounds like your stereo is working normally. Gotta hit the list button. Hit the current button after that and it'll always show the song that's playing - until you change source then youhave to do it again.

Thanks, I figured that was the case, but after seeing the pictures of it working "correctly" with the USB adapter, I was hopeful maybe I was just using it wrong. Displaying the track number on the CD is next to useless.

All my titles and folders show up on the Nav screen just fine for my own Burnt stuff. I use Roxio to burn my mp3 CD's. Make sure when you "turn and burn", you check the box or option in the burning software to write "CD Text" if it exists.

Thanks!

Hm. CD Text only seems to apply to audio CD's, at least my software won't let me make a data CD with MP3's with CD Text.

Back to the drawing board.
