Driving home today... listening to a cd... all of a sudden the lights on my dashboard dim...... the volume suddenly surges up... and I hear this horribly loud noise, and BOOM all of my speakers blew out...

I dunno what happened... It's very annoying..Do you think this is something I should replace under warranty, or would they even bother?

 

wow, at least you know your car has a personality.

dealership will have to take care of this, hope you have one close.

 

Is this a stock sound system, or did you upgrade part of it? If stock, it should be a warranty fix.

 

Heck yes...If it's a factory system they should fix it.

 

It's the HiFi system... I haven't had time to swap it out yet...

 

That (based on current info) is so under warranty! i'm curious though- can you describe the "horribly loud noise" in more detail?

All of a sudden the volume got really loud... then it started to screech,,, a really high pitched noice.....almost made me run off the road... then the last thing I heard was a minimal squeal,,, followed by silence...... so I got off i10 at the next exit... turned the car off and back on... and selected fm radio... and it sounded like rubbish... more so than usual :(

Have your own speakers ready when tehy go to fix your car. Tell 'em put those in instead and give you the new hifi speakers in a box =) . Of course they might get suspicious

Its because you were on the phone with me talking about the audio upgrades. Tell the mini I said sorry and I'll make it sound better!!!

 

That sounds like the HiFi AMP blew up, NOT the speakers. Although, it could have damaged the speakers as well when it blew up, but most likely not. The amp is probably blown, which is a VERY easy change out.

Bring it to the dealer.
