New R56 Owner Questions

I went searching for all my questions, but I wasn't able to find these. I hope its kosher to ask all three questions in one thread, and here goes:

1. When I push the turn signal lever all the way down (to signal left), but need to cancel that signal, I have to push the lever half-up (as if I was signaling momentary-right). Pushing half down (momentary left) has no effect. However, if I signal right, I can cancel by pushing the stick up to momentary-right (or down for momentary left also works). What's the deal?

2. I live in New York State. It snows here. Snow compressing into wheel wells makes compact ice. I noticed once I got the car home that the wheel wells appear to have a thin wall with a felt lining. This does not strike me as durable. Should I expect problems or prepare for any eventualities?

3. I got the sirius option. ("lifetime" is "1 year" according to sirius, but I found that discussion in another thread.) The signal cuts out very regularly in my suburban area. There are no large buildings or overpasses, and only occasional tree cover. Has this been a problem for anyone? Would a aftermarket antenna (I'm thinking I want one anyway) help? Is the satellite antenna even in that ariel?

TIA!

I havent noticed the signal issue so I can't comment.

I think, but I haven't double checked, that it's textured plastic like the R50/53's.

Sat radio is prone to drop outs regardless of conditions because of the location of the satellites relative to you, cosmic conditions, etc, etc. The Sat antenna is in the base of where the AM/FM antenna is located so I doubt an aftermarket would help you out that much.

Thanks restven. I suppose I'll just wait for winter.

Has anyone else seen the turn signal thing?

I noticed the same thing with the turn signals. I find its more natural to cancel the signal by pushing down a second time, than it is to go 1/2 back up. You will get used to it, I did

Sounds like the turn signal thing is like the BMW turn signal. It took me awhile to get used to the BMW turn signal, but now it is like old hat. It's good to know that next week when my R56 gets here, I won't have to reprogram my finger on the turn signal.

I've had Sirius Satelite for about four years now and the drop out thing is just part of the deal. Sometimes when we get big thunderstorms here in Florida, it will drop out a little. Also, in some low lying areas there will be a second or two of drop out - again, it is something I've grown accustomed to over time and I quite frankly, don't pay it much attention any more.
