Good news, but...

I got a call from my MA about 3PM yesterday saying my 07 Laser Blue MCS is at the dealer. Outstanding! However, he said I couldn't pick it up yet because it had not been thru service and isn't released yet. Not so outstanding.

I explained to him that I would be leaving town for two weeks on a business trip Sunday morning, and asked if there was any way I may be able to pick it up prior to their closing time (6PM). He said he'd check, but it was doubtful.

At 5PM, I got a call (Spirits lifting) and was told it would be a no go. (Spirits crashing) Soooo...this will seem like the longest 2 weeks I ever experienced. For some reason, I think my patience will be rewarded.

Nightsky, I'll see that dissappointment and raise you one. My MCS completed production about 10 days ago. I was hoping, though not expecting, to make it on a ship that was leaving a couple days later. As expected I did not make it though others manufactured at the same time did. I thought "No problem there is another ship leaving 4 days after that one". This would be 7 days after production. Then my MCS is released for transport and proceeds to go missing for 4 days! The port is about and hour and 20 minutes from the plant and it took my car 4 days to make the trip! My car showed up at the port on Friday and missed the next ship!
So when is the 3rd try? An entire week later! To make matters worse, this has got to be the slowest ship in their fleet. Whereas most of the ships would go from Southhampton to SC in about 8 days this one is going to take 2 weeks! Had they managed to get my car to the port a few hours earlier we could have saved 2 weeks!

You should ensure that they don't let anyone test drive it before you pick it up.

I don't think that any dealer would do that. Has it happened anywhere?

I don't think they would let anyone else drive it, not worried about that at all. I do understand the "appetizer", and argee to a point, but I would have had one evening to play. On the other hand, if it's at the dealer, I don't have to worry about the 18 year old step daughter doing more than longingly admiring it.

pdoyle, I'm not gonna call your raise. You win on the bummer scale. I wish you happy motoring soon.

Just courious what ship showed 8 days to Charleston SC, WW ships make it to NY in 8-9 days, but to SC it is usually 14 - 15 days, along with K-Line ships take about 13 days.
Can relate to a long wait since us west coasters have 19 - 21 day cruises. Not sure what is causing the delays at Southampton for the last couple of weeks. Fist time I have seen this issue in the last 3 months, really rare to miss two ships, hope ya make it on board on the next one.

Oops! Tharkun, you are absolutely correct! I misread the schedule. I guess I should not feel so bad then,... unless I miss the 3rd ship (Courage) on Thursday. Thanks for pointing that out.

I was just wondering if you had found some faster ships. You have good reason to be fustrated, it is one thing to sit at the dock for a week waiting for a ship like I did. But to be booked and then have it changed and need to wait for a third attempt.......that sucks. Since this issue started in the last few weeks have yet to see any missing a third ship, so you should be onboard and headed west soon.

Some ships come with a sport button.
