MC sales vs. MCS

It's easy for Cooper owners to feel overwhelmed here by the MCS crowd, so I found it interesting to see the sales difference in the U.S. for the R56 is only 4 points.

Out of the 18,803 R56 cars sold this year in the United States through Aug. 31, 52 percent were MCSs and 48 percent were MCs. The total sales volume was 9,790 MCS to 9,013 for MC.

The stats are available here:

Interesting...although perhaps understandable. While there is still a big gap between R56 Cooper and MCS performance, the upgrades to the R56 Cooper might suit a larger portion of the average motoring demographic out there.

I'd love to see stats on colors sold, especially since I still see few OBs and NFRs. I'm sure the numbers are floating about somewhere...we used to see this on occasion.

Yes, that would be interesting. Living far from Portland, I've only seen two other R56s models away from the Rasmussen dealership, so I'd be glad to see any colors.

That's a bit of a relief. It's hard not to feel a bit of peer pressure from all of the MCS owners on here, but I'm trying to stick w/ my original plan of ordering a MC. That's $3k I can spend on options, and it'll still be the second most powerful car I've owned. And it's not like I need any more help getting speeding tickets. If I can get ticketed in an '86 Dodge Omni I don't want to know how many I can rack up in an MCS.

There may be a disproportional number of MCS owners on NAM. POOMs may be more inclined to go for the MCS.

Robin, I think I am going to reget asking this but, "what's a POOM"?
