JCW strut brace on a Cooper

does it fit? It says cooper s only, but im sure i seen somewhere on here a few people that had it on their cooper, but now i cant find the posts anywhere. If not, what the issue, im going to assume the battery box.

thanks

Yes, the battery box will get in the way. I seem to remember that post you are talking about and I think they relocated the battery.

Here's the thread I saw.. They did not relocate the battery, but were looking at whether a lower battery box (and maybe lower profile battery) would accommodate the brace. Here's the link:https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...+brace+battery

thanks! why is it that that thread has almost the exact same title as mine, but all my searches about "jcw strut brace" "jcw strut brace on cooper" and others, yield me nothing?

thanks again

There are some tolerance differences between individual cars. On MINI2 I've read of cases where the bar cleared the battery box and others where they take off the battery cover. Or you can use a low-profile battery cover.

Here is a pic from MINI2. This car has the JCW Sound Kit.

very good, because the sound kit is next on my mod list, but i busted my front end the other day, so now i have to wait until those repairs are made before i get it, and i thought of getting the sk at teh same time, in a month or so. I guess i will just have to buy one, and see if it fits, if not, get the low pro battery cover.

Thanks alot

I had that battery cover when I had my BMP/Pro MINI bar installed. did not have to change the battery. You should be able to get by without a battery change what so ever. You can also take a stock cover, mock up the bar in place, scripe the cover and use a small cutting wheel and cut out the section that is in the way. That is what they did with the cover I have/had in the car....then they added a metal plate for the sealed low profile affect.

Once I got the part, I realized it was someting I could have done on my own for much less money...as I realized that they just hacked away at it anyway. I thought it was a specifically molded part, but it was not.

really, thats good to know, for the money they wont for it, it should be moulded. I thought it was bacause it has the same markings as the OEM one, guess now iknow why. I plan on putting in a race battery anyway, so i will come up with something, Thanks for letting me know that that cover is nothing special.
