Windows need to be down to open the door
My wife noted to me this weekend that the windows automatically dropped about a half inch when you open the door. Nifty feature which presumably makes the seal between the window and the roof tighter.
However, in my concern regarding potential failure modes, what happens if you need to get in or out of the car and the window regulator fails or your battery is dead?

it will still open.. You wil see the glass "flex" a little more.. good for a few times.. but would recommend gettting the window motor fixed soon after discovering the "failure"..
If you want to "test it".. Disconnect the battery and try it .
I had mine go out soon after delivery - a common problem I hear when shipping the MINI.. The brushed on the motor get bounced around a bit and open the gap too much.. But a quick trip to the service center and all should be working fine.. The replacement motor is still going strong.. no problems..
Hope that helps a little.
