Things I want from Japan for my R56

Picked up the summer issue of New MINI Style Magazine this weekend.... take a look at some the goodies!

Let's start with these grilles from Garbino:

I really want that grille set!!

From Design Unit Zone:

Nice IC and exhaust (looks complex??).

And lastly... the following strut brace looks great! With full strut tower plates!! (Hey M7 I'm patiently waiting for a set of R56 STBs )

I also really want that brace

And for the interior from a/trak. I'm not planning to swap my head-unit, but for those who want to add one of those Pioneer nav units, it looks possible ... and not too bad

The speaker kit is nice... (I'm waiting for a kit from Bav Sound)

If I see more in the issue as I go through it, I'll post it

I like the grills.

The JCW strut brace looks better, but doesn't have full tower plates. Supposedly, the R56 doesn't need them.

The only thing I REALLY want from Japan for my MINI is a really cute bento box.

I've got that same grill installed on the gutters of my house to keep leaves from getting trapped inside. You can buy 5 of them for about $8 at Home Depot but you'll have to glue the S badge on yourself.

A bento box to put your MINI into ?? Now that would be interesting.

Yes, it's true about the gutter bits. It's the construction I'd be willing to paying for. I can only go so far on the fabrication front On the same page that the scan is from, it shows the top grille being fiberglass molded. I'll post it tonight.

cob666 - It looks like the center stack is leather wrapped

They're right here....silver is shown, but i assume you ask for black (first price in the top right hand corner)

http://garbino.net/mini/mini/new_mini.html

memoryfab.com is the only garbino importer that i know of in the US....and they charge an arm and a leg.

I'm not digging the grilles. Thats what's called expanded metal mesh, which is made by putting spaced slits in a piece of sheet metal and pulling it apart - a material in metal work that is usually considered cheap. But it gives it a certain crudeness/roughness that may be a desirable aesthetic depending on how you look at it.

And the cool thing is, you can take that grill out and use it to barbeque ribs on when you go camping!! Seriously, expanded metal does not shout high class. WHY would they go with that stuff rather than design something new and original, we'll never know. The other stuff looks pretty hip!

you will never find a click and buy for garbino.....i've been looking for years

You can email www.memoryfab.com and they will custom import it for you....but it will be $$$$. They list some of the MINI things on their site from garbino.
