If you measure a car ONLY be how fast it is, then you need to save your pennies and go get a Maserati.

I mean, geez, what happens when you get the BMW and a Porsche is faster than you ?

You get a Porsche and a Ferrari is faster than you ?

You get a Ferrari and...

If you no longer love your MINI, you won't have a hard time finding someone who will love it.

I have had my used 03 S for 9 months and I still enjoy (love) everyday that I get to drive it around.

I am blessed.

There's simply nothing else like it on the road.

Faster how? In a straight line? Then you're forgetting what the MINI is all about. Faster on a curvy road? Then you weren't driving it right.

The base price on an '08 Corvette is $45,000. Top speed 190mph, 0-60 in 4 seconds. Granted $45,000 is more than a MINI S, but still for the performance you get it's a real bargain. Sell the MINI and get one.

I love my 07 Cooper S. I wouldn't trade him for anything.

It's so FUN to drive!!
Nobody has one that looks exactly like my MINI and if I decided I don't like how it looks I can change that by removing some vinyl and replacing it with something else or leave it off.

You find this surprising. A 330i is much faster nm a new M3

0 - 60 4.5, out the door ... $58K ...

But the MINI GP was much better handling than a Z06 per the MT testings a few months ago. And it will always be a "Chevy"

My MINI reminds me of all the little Minis I saw in Europe back in the 60s as an Air Force brat, and then later all the ones I saw in my jaunts to London when I was in Berlin on active duty.

So, my Tawanda is nostalgic, a part of history, and the most FUN driving machine I have ever had.

I am in love

I don't know too many people who love their MINI because of it's speed.

I love mine because it is unique, reflects me and my personality, and because it is so damned cute.

From your link:

The $45,170 base price is up just slightly from last year.

The 58K example is loaded with a bunch of stuff that does nothing for it's performance.

'08 Vette from Car and Driver and Motor Trend:

Page 102 Sept. 07 Car and Driver, "The new Vette runs 0-60 in 4 seconds." From Sept. 07 Motor Trend page 60, "This approach, (feathering the throttle), paid off with a blistering 4.1 second dash to 60 mph, en route to a 12.5 115 mph quarter mile."

As I said, for a base price of $45,000 the 08 Corvette is a performance bargain.

The MINI is an outstanding 2nd and 3rd gear car. If you want to drag race or want a very high top speed, then it is not the car for you.

If you want a car that will perform and handle incredibly between 20 and 80 mph (the speeds we drive most of the time), then the MINI is excellent.

The MINI also has a hell of of a lot of style if funky retro is your thing.

I personally derive satisfaction from people (usually in trucks or SUVs) who tailgate me onto a sharply curving entrance or exit ramp, only to end up lagging far, far behind as I traverse the ramp at three times their speed. They usually stop tailgating after that (but not always).

Anyway, yeah. I mean, I still get the urge to go to a window and stare at the car for a few moments after owning it for over a year. It just gives me a feeling. Half the time just having spent time with it is the highlight of my day. It's practically my kid!

All very true, and all reasons why I'm having a love affair with my MINI.

The only thing I regret is that I bought an '04 when I could have just paid 4k more and bought an '07 instead. I'm just worried about the tranny since i've already had some small problems with it so far, and that you don't hear many good things about it to begin with on these forums.

I love the design of the car, and the community seems great. I never got any waves from people when I drove my Corolla or Civic, but i've gotten a few when driving my MINI. It really makes my day when it happens. I plan on trading in my '04 in a year or two, but i'm uncertain whether i'll buy another. The price is a little high for my current salary so paying about $350 a month for it is a bit much when I decide to move out around the same time I trade it in.. So I may end up having to go back to a Honda or Toyota just for the lower cost and reliability...

This is the only car i've actually loved owning. I didn't care about my Corolla or Civic when I owned it. I hardly took care of those cars like I do with my MINI. This is the only car that actually makes my head turn and be happy to see it whenever I see one.

why i love my mini

i love my mini because is is like no other car out there. granted the pontiac fiero is a close second however the mini just dominates all!! the other day i was listening to this radio show and the host was talking about getting a mini cooper. I immediatly realized that i had another perfect oppertunity to brag about the mini. so i called the radio show and told him how awesome it is to drive a car that handles like a go kart. this is my second mini and i would not trade it for anything else except maybe that sweet pontiac!!

cheers kyle

It's the only car that makes me look back 3 or 4 times as I'm walking away in a parkling lot.

No matter how terrible my day has been, I can get in and set out for some twisties, and by the time I get back home, I'm smiling.

There's no car out there like it.
You can make it your own.
It has many options to make it a good match
against the cars that are giving you second thoughts.
And it's simply the greatest feeling taking a tight turn
while having your foot on the gas instead of the break.

It will surprise you all the time!

For me, it had to have been going from the Brooklyn Botanical garden's
to a restaurant in the city. Finding a spot that only a MINI could fit into!
And unloading a party of 7!

A category of it's own!

And it will always be a Chevy. I'm convinced. Time to buy a Chevy.

The other day after dinner there were two people taking pics of my car w/ camera phones. You just don't get that with a corvette! There are loads of vettes where I live and despite a MINI being 1/2 the price, they're still more admired! The retro interior is like none other.
