i have a new r56 less than 2000 miles on it. a while ago it started making a ticking noise under the hood. at first i thought it was the motor but the car runs fine. so i took it to the dealer they said the car makes that noise because of the turbo. it makes no sense to me. my brand new car sounds like a 95 technica :impatient . if anyone knows what could be the cause or how ti fix it please let me know.

 

Not the turbo--it's the direct fuel injection. Normal.

 

Ticking when it's on or off? While running, the ticking is, as daffodil said, the direct injectors. You are hearing the clicking of the injector valves. There is one for each cylinder, sitting right on top of the engine. If you are hearing ticking when the engine is off, it may be the turbo oil-cooler pump, which keeps running after the engine is off (which is probably what the dealer was referring to).
