I don't believe that those 03 bags are going to fit in the 07 seats. I guess you could jamb them in there, but the likelyhood of them working correctly or at all,
is very slim at best.

I'm sure you can mod the frames to mount the 07 seats. It's up to you if you want the seats bad enough to forgo the airbags.

I'll leave the father figure rant to someone else.

but cant remove 03 seats till i know the right way t do it mself.

To remove an 03 seat, simply remove four Torx bolts at the rails.

Before you dismantle the seats, I suggest you compare the connectors under the new and old seats. If they are all the same, there is a chance you may be able to just plug it in and it might be compatible. I wouldn't know how to verify though (except the obvious way).

By the way, it is not just the airbag you need to be concerned about compatibility, but also the seatbeat tensioner.

RealOEM.com lists different part numbers for R53 & R56 seat airbags:

R53 MINI part numbers:
03 SIDE AIRBAG, FRONT SEATRECHTS 1 09/2005 72121484283
03 SIDE AIRBAG, FRONT SEATLINKS 1 09/2005 72121484284
03 SIDE AIRBAG, FRONT LEFT SEAT 1 72126965573 +core
03 SIDE AIRBAG, FRONT RIGHT SEAT 1 72126965574 +core

R56 MINI part numbers:
03 SIDE AIRBAG, FRONT LEFT SEAT 1 52102753587
03 SIDE AIRBAG, FRONT RIGHT SEAT 1 52102753588

Based on this, I'd guess they're not swappable.

That's why I suggested comparing the harness connectors under the seat. I didn't expect the airbags to be the same part, but maybe they are triggered by the same electrical signal. There is a chance that you can simply install the new seat and plug in the connectors.
