They increased production capacity so wouldn't this be expected?

Maybe, maybe not...depends how lack of inventory last year affected sales.

I thought most dealers (except around here) never had cars in stock, no?

I do think you're right...man, I can barely recall back that far!!! Seems it was slim pickin's on the lot...most MINIs that came in were owner spec. They arrived on the truck...and then they left.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when Plant Oxford is cranking all the variants...including the Clubman...off the line. I hear plant capacity is pretty maxed out on output. Will owner spec once again drive everything...how will dealer allocation be impacted?

Are you sure? They increased capacity at plant Oxford for this model year. That would be impressive if they've topped out already.

I would love to take credit for it, but that would go to my older brother. At least about the chicks. I just felt it applied equally to the R56.

This is pretty exciting news. I just read in the NY Times that in June, GM had its worst month in 9 years, both Ford and Chrysler had down months and only Toyota had an up month (6%). With the R56 being up 14.7% in an otherwise sea of automotive bad news says quite a lot for our 2007 MINIs.

Firstly, I just wanted to get this thread back on track. But I'll give you a more direct answer to your rather rude question:

Years ago a friend mentioned that he was impressed with the car I had just purchased. I said, "thank you". His response was, "why should you say thank you, you're not the one who designed and built the car". Actually, I had every right to perceive his statement as complimenting my decision to buy this particular car.

When I state that it's exciting that R56 sales are up 17.4% in June, to me it's exciting because it justifies my car selection, it's a compliment to me. Furthermore, it says to others who have been slamming the R56 and making me feel bad with their comments, that they can say what they want, the R56 is proving in every way to be a very successful car.

+1 I like having a car that is sort of rare. I don't own any BMW stock so I'm not making any money on them selling more. You might also look at as they've made it more mainstream is that good?

I am sorry you have perceived my question as rude. I am also sorry that you feel you need sales numbers to make you feel good about your car purchase. Perhaps a Camry would do wonders for you self esteem?

I keed, I keed

Thread like this would be interesting and maybe a little fun if it were not for the twits who seem bent on being derogatory towards a car they do not even own.

Sad little people with sad little minds who cannot see beyond the end of their bonnets. Why dunt(tm) you insecure little twits go fish someplace else?

I agree. A few bad apples spoil it for the rest of us. I just hope Camelpilot doesn't show up. That guy is just mean.

Yeah ..... nice numbers.

They always are when:

- they are comparing it to a period where they started decreasing production of current model to make factory changes for new model.
- Increased factory production capacity by adding cheaper methods (and therefore lower quality) way to produce the car.
- Half the people buying that ugly thing are thinking they getting the R53. It's the R53 that is actually selling that heap.

Sorry I didnt mean to call your car a heap. But it well... is. Not that there is anything wrong with that. (You not alone, lots of heaps out there).

But yeah. Nice numbers. Welcome to the New Beetle Community.

Amen

Skuzzy, I think you summed it up well when you used the words "sad", "little" and "twit". I could not have chartacterized that "hater" any better.

PS - Be careful of any e-mails you may get from that individual. He loves to e-mail people disgusting pictures of himself.
